In short: great course, well organised
In full: Great course that offers some not too arduous hills which makes it more interesting rather than being flat as a pancake. Organisation was generally very good, although I'm not sure if I'd have been stopped to let cars past if I'd been a bit slower - seemed to just make it through road crossings 3 times just before they allowed cars to go. Mile markers did not seem to be in the right places as my watch said 4:55 for one lap and then 9:11 for the next, around 8 miles in. 10 km electronically logged marker was useful, but I guess a standard feature in a race of this size. Very pleased with time, over 4 minutes faster than previous year on flatt EMF half marathon course. Bands Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Kassidy were very good. A voucher to claim a claim a burger and hot drink at the end of the race would be a nice addition. Energy drinks were served in wide cardboard cups that made it impossible to drink from without slowing right down or splashing more liquid than drinking. Crowd was great. Weather: 5'C, sunny, negligible wind.

In short: Fast marathon course which was troublesome in the hot weather - extra water stations would have been useful

In short: 2007 Brig Bash 5
In full: This is a review of the 2007 race, not 2006.
Nice, mostly flat race. Not traffic free but no traffic problems (very quiet roads). Mostly club runners. Fantastic selection of cakes on offer afterwards!!! Great value race!

In short: Fun not Fast
In full: Wave system meant that I didn't have any problems with congestion (I was in the second, B wave). Wind made getting a PB unlikely. Great turnout, challenging but well worth it.

In short: Fantastic 5k but hilly!
In full: 5.2k race with split time at 5k. Challening hill up past Loch Dunsapie but at least this is in the earlier part of the race. Many beginners. 1733 finishers in 2007. Very windy for much of the race but a great course: wonderful scenery of the Arthur's Seat area and a lovely smooth road surface. No cars either of course!

In short: One of the highlights of the running calender
In full: The course was slightly changed from last year - finishing with the same route as the start in order to close fewer sections of road. A bit windy this year too compared with lasat year's glorious sunshine. Very nice, scenic route though. A bit hilly but nothing too drastic.

In short: The route was along the best sections of the Edinburgh marathon route, hill early on was a tough start but fairly flat the rest of the way with a little downhill in the closing kms. Circular route from Meadowbank stad. via PrincesSt & other landmark
