2011 10k Challenge - Child Bereavement Charity
 | | Overall score | | 80% | | Would you do it again? | | Maybe | | | | Details: | | Scenery | | 80% | | PB potential | | 20% | | Atmosphere | | 60% | | Organisation | | 80% | | Value | | 80% | | Beginner-friendliness | | 80% |
In short: 3 brutal hills - but what do you expect in the Chilterns? In full: Nicely organised event in the grounds of West Wycombe Park - had a Midsummer Murders feel to the whole thing, although thankfully John Nettles was nowhere to be seen! Three tough climbs in a 10k race puts this well out of PB territory - I was 5 mins slower than I expected but still finished top 10% which was my goal. May well be back to try and conquer it again next year! Date of review: July 1, 2011

In short: Mudlarks only need apply... In full: I would endorse all the other reviews for this year's race - my first time at the Gibbet, and what a view to begin with (900ft up)! Sunny for the whole race (and just a few degrees too hot for me), the mud, puddles and v.slippy surfaces are compensated by great scenery and a net 600ft drop over the course of the race. Rarely has 16 miles elapsed so quickly!!
One tough climb just past halfway, but we all enjoy a challenge, don't we? :¬s No goodie bag or memento of any sort, but for £12 (inc. transport to start), you can't complain - terrific value. Will return to try and break 2 hours! Date of review: March 31, 2008

In short: A walk in the park?? :¬s In full: Great race, fab carnival atmosphere, a fine day out for the whole family. Undulating and traffic-free course, but not as bad as Watford / Marlow! Bit of a squeeze at the start but otherwise no complaints - recommended. Date of review: October 2, 2006

In short: Nice market town race, going out into picturesque country lanes In full: Obscenely hot in 2006 (low 30s by the end of the race), but generous provision of water stations made it more bearable. Undulating course, not huge support except in town centre.
Hoping for some more cloud next year! Well worth doing if you live in that vicinity. Date of review: October 2, 2006
