In short: Quick course with some nice scenary In full: This is a fast pan flat course. The start and end are on grass so it would be slower if it was muddy. The only down side I found was when we entered into Reading town centre and had to run on the path ways and found that for the 1km or so I really slowed down due to the tight turns. Marshaling was excellent and nice atmosphere at the end of the race too. Plenty of parking and easy to get too. Date of review: October 3, 2011

In short: Great course and well organised In full: Really enjoyed this race, well organised but I would suggest if you have never run this, get there a little early as 1600 people milling about is allot in a small area.
All the race was on country roads with only slight inclines, there is one hill at around the 7-8 mile mark that you will feel for the 20 milers but for the 10 milers it should not be much of a problem.
Lots of encouragement from the marshalls as well en route.
Great goody bag and nice medal.
The only down side was the start of the race with both 10 and 20 milers was very congested and made it difficult for the first half mile.

In short: Good potential for a PB but lousy weather on the day In full: Terrible weather for the race, rain, wind and cold too. It was not so bad with the wind until you hit the 6 mile mark and ran into it all the way back with the last 800mtrs a real struggle so fair play to those sub 1hr runners. With good weather this is a PB course.
Most of the run was through country roads so not so many cars about.
Lots of parking and easy to find. Down side, no toilets, real issue. I was really dissapointed with the momento at the end too, it was a plastic coaster. The weather was a major factor on feeling flat at the end but the goodies really added to feeling as well.

In short: Well organised run and great course In full: Really glad I ran this race. Well organised from start to finish, very scenic course, well marshalled with a special big thanks to the two Marshall's jumping up and down shouting encouragement with Eye of The Tiger blaring out, great work, loved it!
The course is challenging, there is not one individual steep hill just smaller ones but frequent over the distance with enough to make you puff hard. There is a great chance of a PB too although you may feel the back of your calves the next day if aiming for it!
Really quiet country lane course with hardly any traffic, slightly chilly on the day but dry, would be a challenge on a windy one. Nice momento at the end of the race and a goody bag too.
Tea and cakes from the village hall for sale as well as a BBQ for hot dogs etc at the end.
Well done to all involved in organising this race, I had a great time.

In short: Well organised and good course In full: Just completed this year’s 10 mile run. Very well organised, well signposted on the route and distance markers every mile. 3 water stops over the course. I found this course tough, there are a number of hills throughout, none of them are steep but some are long and steady and enough to put you off pace and really make you puff. The last mile is up hill therefore if you are in a competitive group, save a little for the end as it may make or break your time. I had very little left when crossing the line. The race was run on country roads and there was little traffic and a pleasure to run around.
At the finish line, there was water, an isotonic lucozade drink (tasted awful) and a nice glass memento (paper weight)
Hats off to the winner at nearly 54 mins dead and a strong top 15. Good overall turnout and will be back again.

In short: Very well organised and friendly race but a tough course In full: Just completed the Sept 2010 event. Really well organsised and well marshalled, markers every q1 mile. Very quick first mile so be warned with first hill about 1.1 miles or so. The hills are not amazingly steep but there was enough of them around the course to really make you puff very hard. Nice medal. Well worth doing but hit some hill training first before you do this course. Date of review: September 12, 2010

In short: Really great race and well organised In full: Just completed the 2010 run in September. Great run, nice course, a few hills but nothing to major, all through country roads, well signposted and well marshalled with markers every 1km. Only 1 water station for those that want it at the 4km mark. Nice crowd for the finnish with a big cheer. Medal and goodybag. Only complaint I would have is that they gave you a voucher at the end for a cup of tea of coffee, did not realise you could have had water so it would have been better to put the bottle of water in the bag at the end but that is the only moan I could come up with. Well done, great stuff. Date of review: September 5, 2010

In short: not quite as anticipated but good potential for PB In full: I was slightly disappointed by this race; couple of areas I thought need attention. I did not see any markers for the 7 and 8 km although I may have missed them? People should have been lined up at the start by running time, just too many people near the front who had times of 48-50 mins or was their 1st race etc. This meant allot of traffic for the 1st 1.5 kms. When I crossed the line, I was stopped by a Marshall from moving down, which meant I was promptly shoved in the back by people crossing over the line as we all piled into each other. Not too sure why? Bit disappointed with the mementoes at the end as well. The course in general was pretty decent, the hills were not too bad and nice to run in the country side for the last stage and the stage Marshalls gave good support and did a good job of controlling the traffic. I was on course for my PB but at the 9km mark but had a terrible muscle pull in my side which meant my last KM was dreadfully slow and with gritted teeth which I was devastated about but kept going due to the support from the crowds and Marshalls at the end. This course is definite for a PB.

In short: Great race with excellent PB potential In full: Just completed the Aug 2010 race. Really enjoyed myself, good turn out, 750+ people with a very strong field, well organised, good course, few hills but not major with a good turn out of people along the route to cheer you on. One water station and one sponge station. Nice medal at the end. No hesitiation in doing that this race again. Date of review: August 4, 2010

In short: Quick race, one of the better I have done recently In full: This is a flat race. The organisation was fine with no major problems that I could see. I was put off by some of the comments from previous races. The race starts and ends in the park with a 200 mtr start and finnish on grass. The rest of the race is a combination of road, path and footpath next along the river. Not much in the way of traffic to worry about however, bikes and pedestrians along the towpath. You need to get yourself in a good positon with the first 3K if you are going to do a PB as some of the path ways were single file.
Two water stations, 3.5K and 6.5K.
Medal at the finnish line, bottle of water, bit of fruit and some energy sweets.
