In short: Well done Canterbury Harriers! In full: A decent Bank Holiday 10K race held at the Tankerton end of Whitstable taking us out towards Herne Bay and back in on the sea wall. Whilst not pancake flat, it is a PB course. Well organised as ever, plenty of vocal marshals, a few unavoidable gripes remain, eg dog walkers and cyclists getting in the way on the sea wall whereas I wonder if the start line can be reviewed, it always feels particularly tight at the beginning.
All in all, a great race on the Kent road race calendar, I just wish I could run it a bit quicker... Date of review: May 11, 2013

In short: Excellent stuff as usual. marshals were plentiful and encouraging! Only gripe would be the "goody enverlope" and a dull medal - how about a mug instead! Fast race so a PB course for sure. Date of review: March 29, 2013

In short: Well done to Maidstone Harriers In full: This race nearly scored a perfect 5/5 except for one thing - that it was too crowded/hectic in the hall where runners were collecting their race numbers - there really was little room - Sweatshop possibly took up too much space for their stall or should I say mobile shop!!! Out on the course, everything was first class, great organisation, great marshalls and a lovely clear and crisp morning which guaranteed great views of the North Downs. A medal, technical t-shirt, £5 Sweatshop voucher made for excellent value for money. A big well done to Maidstone Harriers! Date of review: October 14, 2012

In short: A good event from Nice Work - good course, albeit the hilly sections were pretty grim, especially the hill at 10 miles! Well done to the marshalls both in number and their encouragement! Date of review: August 27, 2012

In short: Excellent mid week race! In full: I was on holiday in the Lake District and decided to do this race at fairly short notice.
£8 entry for a 10K these days is pretty cheap - but good facilities (a sports clubhouse) were available and a well marshalled fairly flat race were on offer which belied the cheap price tag.
I especially enjoyed receiving a bottle of Jennings Cocker Hooper (golden pale ale) at the end rather than yet another boring medal!
Well done to Hoad Hill Harriers. Date of review: August 25, 2012

In short: Toilet Gate! In full: Firstly, Nice Work put on a number of events and they work like clockwork (i.e. clear route, well marshalled, chip timing and results on the website quickly) - however, there was one main issue with this event...
The nearest toilets were over 1K away which meant around a 2.2K return trip from the start line to go to the loo before the race started. This is really too far for a paid event - hopefully the start line can be repositioned for 2013 a lot closer to the loos!
As for the course itself, it was fairly featureless, but I could have guessed that beforehand, it is pretty well flat all the way round so quick times are pretty possible.

In short: Lovely stuff In full: A "marquee" event on the Kent race calendar, this was my first "TWHM" and I am sure it won't be my last - it has a big race feel to it, from Dame Kelly Holmes starting the race to the high quality medal and technical t-shirt at the end of it - not to forget the race in the middle. Not necessarily a PB course, but a decent course with great support from the locals. Date of review: May 13, 2012

In short: Nice mug and socks In full: Good race, disappointing numbers but then Whistable 10K takes all the Kent runners on the same day... Great starting and finishing on the athletics track. The wooded section of the course was very muddy, but if dry, a PB is possible on this course. Well done to the organisers and marshalls. I hope to be back in 2013. Date of review: May 13, 2012

In short: Two mugs (and two mars bars)! In full: Not one mug but two mugs, and not forgetting the mars bars... perhaps this was to apologise for the hills...?
Great organisation, well marshalled (and they offered much encouragement), shame the start was so far from the HQ.
Did I forget to mention the hills? Date of review: May 13, 2012

In short: Decent race let down by sparse field... In full: This could be a good race with a bigger field. The scenery (Weald of Kent) was good and the route itself was reasonably challenging with three hill sections. An unusual distance (13.8km) takes away the pressure of trying to beat a PB. Well organised, the only thing missing was the field itself (only 74 finishers). Hopefully the race will grow and be bigger and better in 2012! Date of review: December 30, 2011
