In short: Hard but enjoyable race In full: 130 of West Yorkshires finest set out for the Calderdale Moors via Steep Lane (to call a lane "steep" in this area means it's steep!). The race raises funds for St Peters Church and the good people of the congregation take care of the organisation including tea and cakes for finishers.
Will be back next year! Date of review: May 23, 2011

In short: Excellent race - would make a good introduction to trail running In full: I really enjoyed this race. A mixture of fields, woodland, toe-path, tracks and road. It was more challenging than I had expected with many short but challenging inclines. Early into the race these became "bottle-necks" as some walked slowing those behind - so don't expect a PB.
Organisation was good, friendly Marshalls, water station at 3 miles, nice t-shirt - what more could you ask for on a late summer Sunday morning?
Thanks to all the organisers. I'll be back next year! Date of review: September 6, 2010

In short: No better way to spend a Summers Evening! In full: What an excellent event.
Easy parking, welcoming clubhouse to use before the race, friendly organisers and 200 competitors from sub 35's to beginners.
Fantastic scenery around Norland Moor and the village of Barkisland with entertainment from a simultaneous cycle event and a local cricket match.
Drinks at 5k and Finish plus a pair of running socks for finishers - all for £7.

In short: A City race that could be improved by organisation In full: Literature asked competitors to arrive by 8.30 a.m - this meant an hour wait in the freezing cold. Too few toilets but at least the queing gave you something to do.
A more engaging MC and music at start would have improved the atmosphere.
Inner city course was a change from my normal Pennine routes hence PB. Though I agree that the course could be better marked an avoid hazards around stadiums and Marshall more encouraging!
Stadium finish was nice and results were posted quickly.
Might try Salford 10k next year - the Quays are more attarctive. Date of review: July 5, 2010
