In short: Very well organised event In full: Maybe a little expensive if you do think about the cost before entering. Marshalls were superb and I never found myself on my own (runners or spectators) for more than a minute or so. There were 2 level crossing which people got held up at. Running through the city centre was fantastic. It was more hilly than advertised in my opinion. Ample parking (although I suppose this may become a problem if it gets bigger!)
Overall, fantastic event that I would definitely recommend. Going to lay off the marathons for a while I think but I would have no hesitation of joining the wusses for the half! Date of review: October 15, 2012

In short: So much potential, so much disappointment In full: Sent the wrong way, water stops not actually placed on the track, pre-race build up non-existant, expensive, etc. Seems just like a money making scheme to me, plenty of people there and we paid, what, £20 each? But so much potential, I really hope they learn and improve from this. I must agree with the person previous to me, the lad on the long straight was very good, encouring me and everyone else everytime we passed him; he must've been bored out of his skull but didn't show it. In short: Great race at a lovely time of the year In full: Can't remember how much it was to enter but the medals were nice (I like shiney things!) so I think it was pretty good value. The course was clear (although it was a simple route anyway so would have been dire if anyone went wrong!). Marshalls were all in the right places although didn't seem particularly interested, mostly kids I think. The only minor niggle was the stupid finish line. Where the hell was it?! Completely useless if you wanted to sprint at the end as you'd end up either in a shed or knocking the poor girl down holding the medals! Overall though, very enjoyable and a big improvement on the Wicksteed race a fortnight ago. I'll definetely be back next year. Date of review: November 2, 2010

In short: A 10k that's not! In full: Well I was hoping to dip under 48 minutes so when my time came back as 38 minutes, I knew something was up! Marshalling wasn't the best, chap in front of me was sent the wrong way and looks like the runner who reviewed prior to myself had the same experience. A real shame because it was all very friendly and I've not done a 10k before so I wanted to get a time on the board but I'll just have to write this one off. I've only done 2 other races but £17 entry seemed a bit steep too. It seems that this isn't the first 10k at Wicksteed so disappointing overall, hopefully they can sort out the distance next time and I'll look forward to giving it a go.
