In short: Loved running along side the beech! Ok yes a lot of wind, but it helped cool me down. Orgainisers and Marshalls should be very proud of their efforts! Roll on next year! Date of review: February 7, 2011

In short: I am now thinking a little more hill training would have put me in a better position. In full: The setting was beautiful, I knew I was not going to do a PB, I knew in fact the second I realised I would be running up hills it would be much harder than I expected. But as a novice to this running lark, I thought I would give it ago.
So this was my first off road event and all my training (ok not as much as planned, some good sport on TV of late) was on flat roads, that was the first mistake.
Second mistake was looking around for other over weight people who I might keep pace with. As it was demoralising to see them go past me! Note to orgainisers, the race timings for winner and over 40 and so on should have a new category - the over 14 stone category, it makes a big difference and should be rewarded - maybe a big mac should be the reward!
However, I paced myself (to my own ability) fairly well and managed to over take the odd person with 2/3 km to go.
In the end I felt a great sense of acheivement and want to beat my time next year. Cant wait for the next event whatever it might be!
Thanks organisers!
