In short: Friendly, local event with a polished edge In full: They said it was flat and it is. Less than 30metres of climb the entire race. Definitely an opportunity for a PB though I didn't achieve this as was using it as a pace run for the VLM. Next time I would consider this race for an all out attack on a PB. The lack of crowds watching and participating (perhaps a good thing for many people) makes it a lonely race. More like a time trial for those near the front. I guess that offsets the benefits of a flat course but this is a charming race, run by runners, and marshaled enthusiastically. Thank you for the trophy and cheque and the massage at the end was very much appreciated and welcomed. Date of review: April 8, 2013

In short: Super fast 10k In full: Bit delayed but realised never reviewed this great race at the time. Really fast course, set up by organisers and marshals who really want to attract fast runners as well as support everyone else. Excellent goody bag with a range of massage gels too - fantastic. Not sure about the lip gloss for the men but the goody bag contained a vast array of value items to suit everyone. Thank you. Date of review: March 19, 2013

In short: Top Marks Ashby 20 In full: Great organisation from start to finish, brilliant friendly marshals and organisers. Generous water stations with gels 2nd half, and jelly babies offered by lovely children. Bless them. Generous goody bag at end with the famous cheese cob and hoody, and it fits!!! Most of all, the superb masseurs on offer. They were off the scale. Thank you. Date of review: March 19, 2013

In short: Super hot but otherwise PB potential In full: Great race to be part of. Had a club entry so started with Mo and the fast boys. Slight criticism in that the championship runners aren't graded so everyone piles forward. Will remember to get near the front next time. If it hadn't been so hot there would have been a lot more PB because of the quality and depth of the field. Amazing running round London. Lots of drinks stations during the race but none at the finish, a mistake was made where all the championship runners were directed back to the Academy. No water. My head and body was pounding and it took 10mins to get back. We should have been directed to the goody bag collection before going back the academy. Wouldn't stop me running it again as otherwise the organisation was excellent and the facilities given to the championship runners were superb and really appreciated. Thanks to the organisers. In short: Lovely HM, shame about the horrific storm In full: An honour to win this race in such dreadful weather conditions. Thank you to the organisers and marshals and well down to all the hardy souls who braved it. Commiserations to the marathon entrants and the race being cancelled. I think it was the right decision, such a pity that not everyone knew it had been and only discovered it at the split point at mile 12. Date of review: April 30, 2012

In short: No airs or graces, just FAST. In full: Straightforward old fashioned race, sadly no recovery goodies except a bottle of still water but an inexpensive entry fee so no complaints. Loads of fantastic runners to compete against and a very fast course compared to the other road 10k I have previously run. So despite winter training kicking in, myself and most of the elite runners still clocked PB or SB. I was delighted to have made the trip. Wholly recommend to anyone as an end of year bonus race. In short: Great 10k race In full: First time that I have run it and brilliantly organised with nice personal touches, good recovery items, PA, music for atmosphere, friendly marshalls. The t shirt is better than most though I chose small and it is way too big. Good numbers of runners with a strong depth across all abilities. I set a big PB and would have been much faster if not for the wind. Even though there are plenty of hills most were gradual and the declines were very welcome. Date of review: September 12, 2011

In short: It isn't a FAST course In full: Pleasant enough race (I did the 10k) and stewards etc all great but couple of minor moans - the steep and long (1km) hill towards the end of the lap took a major effort and killed the pace so not in any way a fast course. Not a problem as it is all good training but irked that it is almost sold as a fast PB course, even during the pre race briefing. First race I have done where there was no medal, just an awful T shirt, which I will never wear. Medals are so much better, T shirts should be an optional extra. The goody bag was dire, it was a paper bag with a leaflet. Date of review: August 14, 2011

In short: First 10k after several HM and a marathon. Great that it is run on a Saturday too. Hilly course so not one for smashing PBs but nice mix of runners and has a personal, welcoming touch. Stunning countryside and lovely local farmer's market afterwards. Date of review: June 17, 2010
