In short: Great course a must for the race calendar. Needs some portaloos! In full: I have done this race for 4 years in a row now, so that's 4 brass Pattingham Bells in my collection. Quite a tough race over glorious staffordshire countryside. Well attended , a popular race which was well organised. Next time can we have more toilets please, there are hundreds of runners on this one and barely any facilities! Otherwise, great job, see you next year. Date of review: October 13, 2014
In short: Another great Two Castles race, but a couple of things to fix In full: Enjoyed another great Two Castles race yesterday. Weather was good, the race itself was generally well organised.
Great local support along the way, many streets were lined with cheering people and some lovely members of the public offering drinks and sweets.
Couple of niggles from me. Every year I cannot understand why there is such a severe lack of toilets. There seemed to be about 20 toilets for around 3500 competitors. 10 minutes before the race started there must have been 150 people in one queue to spend a penny!
Also would have been good to have had a snack in the goody bag. An energy bar and /or banana would have really hit the spot.
Overall a very good off road race. PB potential is limited due to the sheer number of runners. Couple of frustrations, but otherwise a race I would highly recommend and will likely do again next year! Date of review: June 9, 2014
In short: A great way to spend an early summer's evening, just wish the results were quicker In full: Lovely race, good mix of club runners and unaffiliated. Very scenic. Have done this for the last 4 years, and will do it again. Just wish they could publish the results quicker. Still awaiting the 2014 results 5 days later! Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: Nice very friendly local race In full: Great little race would do it again. Only two downsides is need a better event website, and also clearer signage from the car parks to the starting line. I parked by the MAC and had no idea how to get to the start. I got there by luck by latching onto another runner who did know! Otherwise all good. Date of review: November 4, 2013
In short: Superb 9 miler in fantastic Warwickshire countryside In full: My 2nd year at the Arden 9. Whilst not too hilly, still tough over the 9 miles. Very well organised, great support from locals and well marshalled. Loved the cakes at the finish line, very nice touch! See you next year! Date of review: June 24, 2013
In short: Another superb Blakedown Bolt on a great summer's evening! In full: A very well organised and hugely supported event. A tough course, hard to get a PB, but extremely scenic. Thankfully much less of the ankle deep mud on the course this year! I will be back for more in 2014. Date of review: June 23, 2013
In short: Fantastic race, great support and well organised In full: This was my second year of this race. This time there were around 4000 runners. Generally well organised. Frustrating at start, I positioned myself at 40 minute mark, yet when we got going I was overtaking 100s of runners who had obviously ignoring the signs. Next year I am chaing tactics and just going up front. This year having to navigate past 100s of runners lost me at least 3 minutes off my chip time, and around 7 minutes off guntime. Also, chaos at the end when we had a disorganised scrum, to get on the very delayed buses back to Warwick Castle. It really was very man for themselves! I would however do it again, one of the highlights on race calendar for me! Date of review: June 10, 2013
In short: Fab way to spend a mid Summer evening In full: Fantastic race again, well organised and very family friendly. Thankfully the weather was good. However, with the recent heavy rain made the course very slippy. A great race, see you in 2013 for my 4th Bolt! Date of review: June 27, 2012
In short: The best 10k I have ever ran, by a country mile! In full: Superb race between Warwick and Kenilworth castles. Very well organised, fantastic scenery, and great, friendly support from the local communities too. See you next year! Date of review: June 27, 2012
In short: Lovely race in Warwickshire countryside In full: This was the first time I ran the Arden 9. Having just done the Blakedown Bolt 2 days previously, it was a close call! Glad I did it, superb race, well organised, and nice distance too. Date of review: June 27, 2012
