In short: Quiet country lanes, lovely atmosphere,, ....undulating.
In full: Lovely race, well organised and plenty of parking! Nasty hill straight after the 8k marker, not massive but, after 8k, it can take the wind out of your sails a bit but all in all a lovely race, great tech tee in the goodie bag and well run. Thank you to the brilliant marshalling.

In short: Quiet country lanes, cake and beer.
In full: This was my first time running it and all I can say is bravo! The race started on time and well organised at the cricket pitch then took the runner on a twoish lap course around the quiet country lanes of Braishfield. There were a few inclines and descents but nothing to worry about and although not a traffic free course, the traffic was negligible (I think I saw one car).
The race finished with a lap of the village green, where lots of spectators and finishers were cheering others on, after which a wonderful selection of home made cakes and a pint of fullers/soft drink were waiting for the runners. Brilliant race and delicious cake! See you next year!

In short: Well organised, quick and friendly.
In full: Marvellous race! Well organised. Plenty of car parks nearby and pubs open for the spectators. Excellent marshalling and plenty of supporters (some armed with Jelly babies) Loved it!

In short: Expensive for what it is.
In full: Okay so for checking how your training is going this is a good idea but no way worth the fee they ask. The "roads" are narrow so forget overtaking for the first two laps while everyone sticks to the pacer like glue. The parking was a joke. We got there an hour early and hit traffic straight off the M4 then when it came to parking I had to jump out at the entrance and jog 2 miles to get to the boathouse. The start was delayed by 15 minutes due to the parking problems and then when walking to the start an official told us we had a seven minute jog ahead of us (making us all panic) when infact it was three or four minutes max. Also the race info says you can wear headphones (I personally don't) but i heard a few of the faster runners shouting at those with them in as they couldn't hear them coming behind them to lap them.

In short: Enough to keep you working.
In full: Unfortunately there had been alot of rain over the last few days so some of the tracks were muddy and had puddles (I personally love splashing through puddles). However the race itself was lovely. Everyone was talkative and there was a good mix of people. The route has a few nice sized hills and is run on quiet country lanes and bridleways (hence the mud) a thoroughly enjoyable race. Tea and cake was a nice touch at the end and all in a good cause.

In short: 5K: Easy to do well
In full: I was first impressed by the organisation, myself and my partner were a few minutes late so a very kind water marshal gave us a lift down to the start on her way. The race itself was pretty (nice views of the canal barges) and only consisted of one hill about half way round. The route was well signposted with plenty of cheering from the marshals as you passed them which would keep even the most inexperienced runner going all topped of with a nice narna at the end. Definately do it again.
