In short: Well Done Frimley Park Hospital
In full: It was all about the fund-raising in truth. The hospital hopefully made a lot of money, and deservedly so. The organisation was improved on last year, and the inclusion of chip-timing and a very swanky medal will ensure those who ran this year return in 2013.

PB for me, and good runs for lots of fellow Windle Valley chums. Sad I won't be around next year.

In short: Good race and weather
In full: Great weather; excellent organisation; knackered Awesimon unable to run competitively after 4 miles (oh well, these things happen!).

The course was quick, with lovely marshals and plenty of water stations - another day and it would have been a PB, but I was just too darned tired from a Half the week before.

The technical area was well organised, and the technical t-shirt at the end was a very generous finishing reward.

Thanks MAC - sorry I won't be back next year - emigrating :(

In short: Its as Cold As Ice
In full: Chilly. Bit of freezing rain an hour before the start, but none during the race. Fast course with well placed and encouraging marshalls all round. The organisation really was spot on. The only minor gripe were the 8km and 9km markers which were way out - but then, thats just being picky! Well done 26.2 RRC!

In short: HaRd.CoRe!
In full: I said last year 'no fancy dress for me', and stil ended up Wee Willy Winking it around the course. I always envisage I'll be able to run 100% of the time, but the truth of it is, the course is tough, the hills are hilly, the mud is swamp sticky, and you will suffer. The steps at the end were actually loaned to the National Trust by Satan himself.

Seriously though, great way to start the year - fellow runners dressed-up sufferering and well and truly, gloriously, knacker cracked. Thanks Rob - you the boss.

In short: Happy Times by the River
In full: A return to an old hunting ground for me. Got dragged around by a fellow runner in a super respectable time, so am very happy. Excellent atmosphere, great scenery, and pleasantly flat course.

The only thing which bamboozled me a bit was the chip timing business. So my race number had 2 chips in it, and the thing through my laces was another - but unless the tag thingy was facing up (mine had moved round whilst running, apparently it wouldn't record a time. I also don't recall running over a mat at the start......I am hence sitting here worried that my PB time / effort is going to go down the plughole...... fingers crossed for me....

In short: I Heart the Julian Farrell 10k
In full: Thought the shin splints had done me in on Friday - thankfully there was no sign of them, so I managed a good race.

Organisation was spot on again, as it was the year before. The first water station was set back a little too far on the grass verge to make it worth stopping for, but thankfully I wasn't thirsty then, so not a problem. Drivers around the course were less aggressive this year, until literally the last few hundred meters when a 4x4 attempted to pass with vehicles coming the other way - I was forced onto the grass verge with another runner and it was nearly our undoing - seriously stupid driving.....

It was a hot race, but I found the going good and am 99% happy - only the inconsiderate numpty of a driver marred what was a pretty perfect day for me. Thanks CADAC - would love to say I'll be back next year, but emigration to the U.S may prevent that!

In short: Death by Hills
In full: I know. The course wasn't that bad - but considering the race website said they'd removed hills, i'm inclined (ha) to think it was a joke.

The organisation was excellent, and the marshals and water station helpers and the T.A guys were all great. But I was awful. Knackered by mile 6, and went sharply downhill from there on. I literally just staggered across the finishing line....not my greatest moment.

In short: Wet, with two horrible hills!
In full: oh wow - I forget how much harder this off-road stuff is.....enjoyed the race, but not the hills. They absolutely cained me - and worse, is that on the 4km mark is also the 9km, so you know full well what's coming in 20 or so minutes time! The rain was actually quite cooling so i didn't mind it, once the race got going, and didn't care that I was covered head to toe with mud by the end. A medal and water bottle at the end by way of a reward, and rounded-off a good local race - even I was a touch slower than I'd hoped for.

In short: super Quick - pacers were a great touch
In full: Have avoided Dorney due to the dull 'twice round the lake' stigma attached to it. But hey, today was accompanied by some glorious weather, and good atmosphere. Quite a large field lined-up with a good mix of club runners and beginners. The pacers made the event for me and I got a PB, so I have nothing to complain about. The goody bag was very generous, and I came away extremely pleased, and will be back next year. The only niggle was not knowing there were plenty of loos. I queued for the main ones, but failed to see the inside ones, or the male urinals - still, we had plenty of time to spare, so it wasn't that much of an issue. Thanks to the organisers, marshals and pacers - you were all excellent.

In short: Quick-Flat-Hot
In full: Good race, well organised and marshaled, just too bloomin' hot for me!
Lovely medal - quite possibly my favourite so far!
