In short: Rather a hilly 1st half
In full: Excellent race. 1st 6 miles are rather trying but the scenery takes your mind off the pain. Great organisation from a small friendly town. Lots of locals out cheering you on. Though i saw the same lady and little girl at the 3 mile / 6 mile & 9 mile marks applauding and cheering. I had to make the effort to thank her for her support. Also a nice touch at the end when the announcer calls your N° and name over the loud speaker system as you run to the finish line. Only down side was the condition of the showers (but i suppose it is a rugby club)

In short: great day
In full: traveled down from the borders to see my brother and managed to talk the wife into letting me enter the 20k race. Fantastic weather & organisation. Marshall's & Miss race director (Martina) were brilliant. On the 1st lap the hill to the 10k (halfway point) line catches you off guard. But on your 2nd lap you know its coming and it sucks the life out of you. Plenty of support from the locals on route and at the end keeps your spirits up...overall a brilliant day

In short: hills ?
In full: read all the reviews and comments from last year and was dreading the hills....i only actually remember 1 which was mile 9 - 10 up past the golf course. I spoke to a runner on the way up and asked what he thought of the race so far and his reply "i live in york....we havent got hills in york" to which i replied " i run in the borders and this is relatively flat"....maybe broke his heart but it really is a fantastic race... marshals were fantastic as is the shirt given at the end....well worth a 400 mile round trip..thanks to the organisers and spectators...see you all next year

In short: my 1st half marathon
In full: Just completed my 1st half marathon. The organisation was faultless got my chip & N° no problems at all. Start was great with the pipes and drums (really gets you going) i made the schoolboy error of being near the front and set off like a hare. My 1st mile was timed at just over 7 minutes ;-( big mistake but hard to avoid. The weather was glorious and the support from the locals along the way (from groups of pensioners to youngsters on push bikes everyone was clapping) the hill at mile 10 / 11 almost killed me ;-)but when your going up you know your going to run down the other side (which makes it flat really) all in all a great day organised perfectly. a big thank you to everyone
