In short: Slick organisation and a lighting fast course
In full: That's the first time I've done this race, and I can't wait to do it again!
Not the most scenic of races, but if you're after a quick 10K, there's not too much time to spare looking around - it's all about speed.
The organisation was great, although it was hard work getting out of the Leisure Centre car park afterwards. Well marshaled, all the water you could need both during and after, and a really good looking T-shirt as well.

In short: A tough 10 miler that just gets better every year
In full: A huge congratulations to the Ryde Harriers for organising this event.
Chip timing was a welcome addition this year, which seemed to make the production of the results even quicker. Everything else about the organisation was of a high standard, too.
The marshals were excellent (it helps to know half of them too!), and their support was a big lift, escpecially in the second half of the race.

In short: Ho Ho Ho my God, what a hill!
In full: My 3rd running of this race.
I came back, not quite remembering what about it I liked so much, but now I remember that it is the combination of the atmosphere, first rate marshalling, and the sense of achievement having completed a tough old course.
That's the first race I've had to wait for 100 or so sheep to cross the course!
Thank you so much, Seaford Striders, for organising such a great, great race. Keep up the excellent work!

In short: Up hill, then downhill, then 5K flat on a beautiful course
In full: What a way to spend my 40th birthday!
Quite a challenging course with the first 4k almost all uphill, then payback with 1 to 2K downhill then extremely flat to the end.
A very picturesque course where you never feel close to any traffic was improved still more by perfect weather.
A very respectful 2 minutes' silence before the race start showed that the organisers really did have heart.

In short: Great, challenging route through quiet country lanes
In full: A particularly warm morning, after lousy weather for I don't know how long took me a bit by surprise, but this wasn't the organisers' fault!
The organisation was very good, but the marshals were, on the whole, very quiet. The odd word of encouragement would have made a huge amount of difference! Also, it would help if marshals in key positions would indicate which way the runners should go, and not leave it up to the runners to ask!
All told though, that's a race I'd be happy to tackle again next year.

In short: Lack of a marshal at a T-junction on a very badly planned route
In full: How can you not marshal a T-junction?
This appalling oversight cost me 3rd place, and ruined so very many months of hard training for me.
Drastic improvements need to be made to the event and the course for me to even begin to consider recommending this marathon to anybody.

In short: Hills, hills, and more hills!
In full: Certainly not an easy 10 miler, but the lumpy profile made it all the more interesting. Pleased to have risen to the challenge. Very well marshalled race, too.

In short: SUPERB (shame about the delayed start, not your fault)
In full: This is a great half marathon to do if you're after a PB. The repeat sections through the airfield aren't the most scenic, but that's made up for by the final few miles along the seafront.
It's a pity the start was delayed, but you can't account for traffic when trying to close the roads.
Thank you, all the organisers for a really good day out. It's just a pity that some clubs didn't feel it was necessary to stick around for the presentations afterwards, or the age category winners themselves.

In short: Flippin' Brilliant!
In full: Half marathons don't get much more varied and picturesque than this.
Running through fields and woodlands, up steps, across beaches and over downs, taking in views of the Solent, the Needles and the English Channel south of the Isle of Wight takes some beating.
Not a run to get a PB, although somehow I did!
West Wight Road Runners had just the right number of marshals and signs to ensure nobody could get lost, and made the event one to remember. Thank you so much for such a great day!

In short: Sticky mud, steep hills. Very good atmosphere and friendly field of runners.
In full: This run just gets better and better. I don't know why this year's times were so much better than last year - I had hoped that 72 minutes would see me closing in on the top 15!
The very steep hill at 6 miles was just as bad as I remembered it.
Not a run for a first-timer, but for anyone wanting a multi-terrain challenge just before Christmas, in beautiful countryside, this run takes some beating!
