In short: Great fun, love the course In full: Weather aside (which was horrendous)I really enjoyed this race. Second year of running and I will definately do it again. Some queues at the endand walking to the car parks, but this is inevitable with so many people taking part. I thought the water bottles this year were a triumph as well, I usually lose time taking a drink so i loved the squirty plastic bags!! Date of review: March 18, 2013
In short: A fantastic day out In full: Registered for this way back when it opened and suffered a couple of injuries so pushed back my blue bib and started in the green zone. I wasn't racing cometitively, just to see how my knee would hold up so the pinch points and occasional slowing down on the tighter corners didn't upset me. To be honest I think you should expect this anyway when you are running with near enough 20,000 other runners through a town. And who can be angry if the people holding you up at the water station are our boys in army greens running for charity?!
Atmosphere was fantastic, particularly through the university and around the train station - I loved it! And the drummers by the Oracle, I was nearly in tears with pure emotion. Spurred me on to finish in a time that I was not expecting at all. And the last few hundred meters in the stadium - you can't help but turn the pace up. Brilliant feeling.
One slight niggle - cutting corners across the grass verges on the tigher bends. Fine if people want to do this and shorten the distance microscopically, but it encourages everyone else to dive across the road to do the same and those of us that want to stick to the correct side of the curb end up getting barged around a bit. Maybe some red and white crash barriers / tape in these areas to keep people on the roads? Date of review: April 4, 2012
