In short: Well organised In full: Brilliantly organised, so many marshals along the course. 1st running so lots of locals out supporting the event and the support was unusually non-partisan, great atmosphere. Date of review: July 16, 2012

In short: Challenging run in great scenery In full: A varied and at times challenging course. Dry weather in the preceding two months meant the tracks were hard and no issues with mud. I wanted to particularly thank the organising club Totton RC for the superb marshaling, no chance of getting lost here! The marshals were amongst the best I have seen in races, all offering cheery encouragement. A nice touch was marhsals using lists of entrants to call out people's names as they went past. Overall, well organised, great scenery (I am very local but had never run some of the tracks used) and definitely a stinger! Date of review: October 25, 2011

In short: Unusual running race In full: Admin was poor - I received no pre-race details and had to query this, fortunately my entry was found and confirmed. On the plus side - once you relaxed into the run it offered some fantastic views and varied scenery through rural landscapes with many gates to open, stiles to climb and farm animals to avoid. On the downside - not enough maps were printed, the race organiser suggested just sticking in a group. This does appear primarily a walking event but I entered as a runner as I could find no other event on the day. Signposting was non-existent (two arrows over the 12-mile course and most people got lost at some point, some badly - I ended up doing 16), it was more an exercise in orienteering. We started from the Finish line, which was unusual, and no-one checked us off at the drinks stop or on our return. I returned a time of 2 hours 17 over the 16 miles that I ran which is slower than my half mara time but had many stops for 'rural obstacles' and map reading. Nevertheless I would probably do again. Organisation could be vastly improved by sending out maps in advance to allow better preparation. Walkers should also be encouraged to consider runners - some impolitely refused to let us through even though we were against the clock. Date of review: July 26, 2011

In short: Too many children for the fun run In full: And £13.50 for supporters to enter the park is excessive. Date of review: June 29, 2011

In short: Interesting mix of suburban scenery and offroad stretch In full: Shame the turnout was so low, not sure why this other than the technology to enter the race is annoying. Date of review: June 29, 2011
