In short: A good race Cardiff - but it should be a GREAT race! In full: Really enjoyed my first half marathon. The last few miles over the barrage were great and there was great support throughout the race.
A few things the organisers need to do better though: - The route could have included some of the more interesting parts of Cardiff. A run through the parks, through the castle, along St. Mary's street or Queens street or into the stadium would have been great! - 2 miles of DULL dual carriage-way, including car fumes (the road should have been completely closed) - Not enough toilets (queues at least 50 people long for 1 or 2 cubicles per queue) - Screw cap bottles!?! I almost tripped over the caps. - Bad signage. Nobody knew where the starting area was and it was so narrow and congested it took about 20 minutes to get there. - No trains to Cardiff on a Sunday morning. - Goody bag very poor considering the almost £30 entry fee. Poor quality cotton t-shirt.
Come on Cardiff - This is one of the best cities in the UK - we shouldn't make do with a good race, it should be a GREAT race! Date of review: October 17, 2011
