In short: 5k leaders back of 10k runners - totally messed up the race and places In full: Started after 4 months of training and pb and a place a real possibility only for all the 5k leaders to run into the back of the 10k race (2,500 entrants that left just 10 minutes earlier) after a few hundred meters. Few elbows flying which I could not do, a bottleneck of 2 metres at one point. Obstacles to jump over to get through the crowd. Had no idea of the placings by the time we got onto our own course after 1.5 miles.
Great times for the first 2 of 16.15 and 16.30 but gutted for some of the others around the front 5 where places were more of a lottery. I had let go after 1.5 miles. Pretty sure all the others at the front would think the same.
Well done to all who got a place.
Reckon it added 30 secs to a minute onto the times !
In short: Most fun race done this year In full: Great craic along the canal. mud and puddles. 400yard run in a dark tunnel. £2.50 a pint at the end. a questionable extra 400 meters at the end. loved every minute. Date of review: July 8, 2012
In short: cheap and cheerful In full: Few ling inclines and few steep corners to curb your pace, but you cant grumble for £12. Good to run around the athletics track as well Date of review: June 24, 2012
In short: 20% hills; 40% mud, 100% fun In full: About 10 hills / slopes upto about 75m long and 60 degree gradient. 2 puniserhs but definitely doable. Saps the legs in bits Really nice atmosphere and organisation. Date of review: February 26, 2012
In short: chilled out chester In full: top day. very scenic city.
book hotels early though as no trains to chester arrive in time to get there for the race start. Hotels pretty expensive if not booked early. An 11 am start would be better to allow people to arrive on time. Date of review: October 12, 2011
