In short: Nice race bling In full: Course was very congested in parts, with a few pinch points. First part of the course was pretty uninspiring, but the second half and last few miles were much nicer and much better supported! Some of the water stations were poorly marshalled for such a warm day. You do get an incredibly nice medal for this race though! Date of review: October 13, 2014
In short: Another fab Brighton Half In full: Fourth time I've run this race and it never disappoints me. Fab weather again this year and great local crowd support. Fantastic medal as well Date of review: February 28, 2014
In short: Another brilliant BM In full: Excellent organisation, plenty of marshall's, plenty of water/drinks stations and as usual the crowd support was absolutely fantastic. I didn't mind collecting my race pack from the expo, but then I am local. People do know about this in advance, and I'm pretty sure that it is the norm for any big marathon! Definitely recommend this one for all abilities. Great for beginners and great for PB chasers. I just hope it doesn't get too much bigger as there were a couple of points on the course that were quite congested! Date of review: April 15, 2013
In short: Nice flat route with definite PB potential In full: This race has had some poor feedback over the last few years, but I couldn't fault it this year! Well organised, nice route with nice views, good crowd control and nice medal!! Excellent PB potential with the route being mainly flat! I'll definitely be back again!! In short: Excellent PB Potential In full: Thoroughly enjoyed this race!! A flat and quick course means excellent PB potential! Brilliantly organised for such a big event. Lovely medal and nice to have a goody bag that atually contains food rather than just leaflets! Shame about the t-shirt, which you would probably only wear to sleep in or for decorating!! The downside is that its really expensive!! Also, unless you leave really early and park on the edge of the city, getting in and out of Portsmouth with that many people is a nightmare! Having said that, it's a brilliant day and no doubt I will be back again in the future!! Date of review: October 29, 2012
In short: Fantastic race, beautiful scenery and amazing crowd support! In full: This is the second year running I have done Brighton Marathon and yet again it was absolutely brilliant!! Amazingly organised and loads of water/fuel stations. What I love the most about this marathon though is the amazing support from all the volunteers and crowds in Brighton!! Two years on the trot there has been thousands of people lining the steets cheering all the runners on! Makes me proud to live here!! I will definitely be back next year!! In short: Fantastic new route with a great PB potential! In full: Having first done the Brighton half in chaos and bad weather last year, I was much impressed with the new route and great organisation of thi years run! Route was excellent, crowd support was great, PB potential was great, fantastic medal... and even the weather stayed dry! Definitely a must do for anyone training for the Brighton Marathon as it takes in part of the marathon route.... a great practice run! Date of review: February 24, 2011
In short: Great PB potential! In full: First time I have done the Great South and I really enjoyed it. Lovely flat run, which is definitely an opportunity for a PB. Really liked the BUPA booster station at mile 9, just what you need to give you that extra bit of motivation to go the last mile.
Thought the organisation was excellent considering there were so many people and having experienced a bit of a shambles at the Brighton half earlier this year!
The only downside for me was that the first 3 to 4 miles were pretty quiet in terms of crowd support. Would have been nice to see a few more supporters in the early stages to help get you motivated. Havin said that, the second half was fantastic for support!! Will definitely do again next year! Date of review: October 29, 2010
