In short: A superb City Marathon In full: Brilliant race,A must for all those who want to do their first big race. I had run Chester in 2011, and opted for Liverpool this year. Enjoyed the point to point run, the crossing from the city to the Park was all part of the fun, and the race itself smooth and enjoyable. Wasnt expecting the reception as i exited the tunnel....`Wow`...it has to be experienced to be believed. I honestly thought i must have been running close to a celebrity...until i realised the cheering was for every runner ! The people of Liverpool never fail to impress me with their warmth and humour, and this pulses through each part of the race.
Varied road/paths and tracks around the parks have drawn comments of it not being a PB potential...and `Parliament Hill`....well it serves it purpose BOTH ways for a pace leveller on the way up, and a nice speedy finish towards the finish on the way down, so no complaints here, plus with a drinks station half way up...honestly...can you complain ?
Mann Island is the perfect finishing point, you will feel as grand and as tall as the Liver Building itself as you collect your medal. Date of review: October 16, 2012
