In short: fast...no, not fast...........faaaaassst! In full: Glorious sunny and fresh day. Flat course, chip-timing, easy parking, great value, friendly folk.....what more do you want? Date of review: November 18, 2012
In short: Recommended In full: Lots of toilets, plenty of retailers (food, sports stuff) local-radio etc at start. Roads closed for event, good marshals, enthusiastic locals. Lots of water-stations with water in bottles (no jelly-babies etc) good basics at finish - medal, water, chocolate, banana and a quality tech tee. The course is perfect, nice little hills with fast downhills to follow - last 3 miles flat/downhill. Date of review: October 7, 2012
In short: 2000ft? seemed like more. In full: Test yourself to the limit (and beyond..is that possible?) Difficult ascents and descents with uneven/narrow/steep gradients. Difficult enough when dry this would be an 11 difficulty course with rain + the clay underfoot.
Well signed and marshalled. Plenty of water-stations (jelly-babies next year?). Excellent goody-bag (Tec t-shirt, apple and cake, local beer, and a local ice-cream) nice medal. There was a free massage after the run.
In an ideal world there would be showers and changing facilities. Date of review: September 16, 2012
In short: Smooth In full: Undulating, but not overly so. Very little traffic. Nice t-shirt. Honeybun's delicious cakes. Well organized and friendly. Hot showers. What more do you want? Date of review: July 29, 2012
In short: Challenging In full: Undulating and hilly is the correct description. I remembered it as flattish apart from the après Corfe climb; how wrong I was, the hills were cheeky for the first part as well.
A t-shirt this year, as well as the medal, was a nice surprise for this bargain half.
Traffic a small irritation, rather than a big problem. Date of review: July 14, 2012
In short: I enjoyed the laps, no 'surprises' around the corner In full: Boddington House is a good setting, bring a friend with a dog. As long as you know your own pace and are not put-off by being overtaken or get 'cocky' by overtaking others then this is an excellent experience. One water station is good, take your own 'stuff' and leave it there. Friendly folk, and good support. Whilst having chip timing it is at the same time low-key. Nice medal, it is Boddington House shaped. Date of review: July 2, 2012
In short: Charming In full: Hot and hard in places (the first 4miles lulled me into thinking it would be quite straightforward)...but the finish on Devizes' Green - where there was a small dog-show, children playing and families enjoying the day - made it all worthwhile and left me with an internal 'glow' that has yet to disappear. In short: Pretty good In full: Excellent venue, just off M5 and plenty of parking (£3). A good course, undulating not 'silly hilly'. Good vfm.
Marshals could have been a little more encouraging, and perhaps a little more 'forceful' in giving instructions eg 'stay to the right...' whatever. There was rather a lot of traffic on some of the smaller roads.
On the whole a good effort. Date of review: April 15, 2012
