In short: Horrendous conditions and cancelled on the day, so just the HM to run In full: This was supposed to be my first full marathon and with the conditions it would have been a tough one. That would have been tough for me and not them so why cancel, if I wanted to stop I could have, but I wss not given the choice.
There was an announcement, apparatly, but I did not hear it, I was told by a fellow runner. I spoke to a guy at the 5 mile mark and he was unaware that the race he was in was cancelled.
OK so they cannot do anything about the weather and they do care about our safety, but ALL the marshalls should have been telling everyone for the first 3 miles then everyone would know.
Also they should have put something on the web site as many people check this before setting out. There is not even anything on it now after the race has finished. Date of review: April 29, 2012
In short: Great friendly atmosphere with a challenging but short hill half way round In full: A lovely race running through countryside with a climb up a short (1/4 mile) hill half way round. Rewarded at the top of the hill with a great view and a down hill section into the village of Loxley. Another more gentle hill near the end, but the last 1km is down hill to the finish with great support from the supporters and your fellow runners at the finish Date of review: January 15, 2012
In short: Excellant way to spend a Sunday morning In full: My second HM and I achieved a new PB and beat what I thought was a challenging target. I took advantage of the free Sunday morning training sessions for the 8 weeks lead up to the race. These were great sessions that were very welcoming to those relatively new to running.
Friendly atmosphere a few hills (nothing that was too nasty) and a great run down to the finish and seeing a few people I had trained with at the finish made it a great day.
Will be back next year......Thanks Kenilworth Date of review: September 8, 2011
