In short: Great first ultra experience!!!
In full: Despite having trained for months I was nervous about plunging into the ultra running world. Worried I wouldn't finish.... Worried I would come last.... And then worried that I would get lost after the route was changed the day before because large parts of the original route were impassable. It would have been the easy option for Go Beyond to cancel the run, but I am so glad they didn't and the race was superbly organised from start to finish. I did get a bit lost in the latter stage but I wasn't alone and it was easily rectified with the help of a local dog walker!! I did this race as I had read about the camaraderie at ultras and I wasn't disappointed, every single person was great from other runners to the marshals at the checkpoints. I will definately be back next year!!!

In short: Nice course, but got cold queuing at the bag drop afterwards!
In full: I didnt mind the course change from last year, the bunching at the underpass was just a good opportunity to have a drink (I was not chasing a PB!). The scenery was still nice and there was sporadic support around the course, great support in the town. My main gripe concerns after the race.... No goody bag.. small point i know. The worst thing was queuing for 20 minutes to pick up the bag from the bag drop and getting very cold! We used the trucks last year and didnt have a problem so not sure what happened this year. Cost saving perhaps?

In short: Beautiful location, superb organisation and the best marshals of any race!!!!!
In full: This is a great multi terrain run in a beautiful location, at times you were a few feet from herds of reindeer! A couple of cheeky hills make this a challenging run, one of which we had to do three times (snake hill), but there was a great fuel station at the top and on the third pass a cup of coke sorted me right out! One of the best things about this race was undoubtedly the marshals, they actually looked like they wanted to be there not just providing direction but loads of encouragement too which perked you up when you were flagging. In short, it was tough, but I will definately be back next year! :-)))))

In short: Excellent race, great crowds!
In full: Second year at Reading and as with the previous year, the crowds were amazing. It's a great route, good pb potential (although sadly not for me this year!) although it was quite crowded a lot of the way around. Felt like a lot more people running this year. Only bugbear about the course was that it was slightly longer, my garmin said 13.27!

Organisation on the day was absolutely impeccable, but they need to sort the admin team out next year as there were a load of us that did not get our race packs through, despite being assured they had been sent. To get an email at 6pm on the Friday evening admitting that they hadn't was annoying! However, like childbirth, all forgotten after the event which was superb!
