In short: Terrible organisation at the start. In full: Truly ludicrous organisation at the start didn't help my mood on what was a brutally hot day.
As usual, people were asked to order themselves by sub-40, sub-45, whatever, and lined up with the fastest runners at the front. But then the "corporate challenge" runners were just plonked in at the front alongsie them - meaning that some very slow, first-timers, were starting at the same time as very fast club runners.
I struggled to get round groups of women who were huddled into packs, talking about how they were hungover, and were walking by two or three minutes into the race.
It can't have been much fun for them either, as they went off far too quickly and had people shouting at them to move out of the way. If they'd been put in time order with everyone else, they'd have been able to do their laid-back run/walk and the serious runners would have been able to get by.
