In short: Wet, muddy, fun1! In full: Having done a half marathon yesterday I was pleasantly suprised to get a PB beating my previous time by 3 minutes. Hilly, slipply, muddy, lots of marshalls - although my wife saw a marshall holding an big arrow the wrong way that caused the third placed runner to hesitate! She berated him somewhat I heard.
A nice course well organised and enjoyable. I wish all races were like this. Date of review: May 7, 2012
In short: Lost and DNF! In full: My own fault really, I had nobody in front of me and I missed a turn over a pedestrian bridge which may or may not have had signs who knows, ended up a long way from the correct route. It is a trail marathon and I should have taken a map, sorry to the 2 runners who followed me. At mile 12 on my own route knee gave up and a kindly marshal drove me the last mile. My first DNF.
Tougher than I thought it would be. Date of review: May 6, 2012
In short: Great event for my very first 10k. In full: Having only just started to run and this being my 1st 10k I was very impressed with the whole event. Kids had fun while waiting for me to return as well! Date of review: May 23, 2011
In short: Hot day hilly course kids race great fun! In full: This was my first 10k race and I had prepared well but knew the heat and hills would be an issue. I had a pace wristband as the notes said there would be markers every 1k, but I only saw one at 1k, 5k and 9k which meant pacing was out of the question. There was a little traffic and it took about 5k for the runners to thin out and make progress easier. The first 5k was straightforward but the back 5k was tough, plenty of people walking even the odd club runner. A fun day out, great atmosphere and the kids race was great fun, my 5 year old loved it and beat me as I was a bit stiff by then. Date of review: April 10, 2011
