In short: Changes needed (and planned) In full: This was my second year running the Llanelli Waterside Half and to be honest I felt that 2012 was not as good as last year.
Marshalls seemed very thin on the ground compared to last. Those in attendance were either great/supportive or completely useless (the ones on the last turning point had got bored by the time I got there and were sitting in their car!). Didn't seem to be enough people manning the water-stations either.
The gun - Unless you were standing right on the start line, you could hear nothing on the P.A system. A couple of speakers further down would not have gone amiss.
The baseball hat 'memento' is absolute garbage in my opinion. Poor quality and a complete waste of money. I would be surpised if anyone actually gets any use out of it. That said the trainer trophy was good and comparible with last years excellent paperweight. Makes a nice change from a medal!
It felt like it took as long to get out of the car park as it did to actually run the race!
Crowd support was excellent around the start/finish areas. Many thanks to those who braved the elements on what was a typical March day in West Wales. All four seasons were present!
There are plans to move the start and finish points to Parc Y Scarlets Stadium next year to allow the field to be increased, which will obviously include a new route. For this reason I will probably run again but on reflection I just feel that the 2012 effort can be summed up with "could do better". Date of review: March 5, 2012
In short: Improvement on 2010 In full: Less congested than last year but they've cut out some of the more scenic bits as a result. They really need to cut back on numbers though. It's getting too big. Date of review: October 17, 2011
