In short: marshalls, spectators great, course good, weather evil, baggage organisation disastrous
In full: If my day had ended at 12.30, it would have been a great event. The crowds and marshalls deserve medals for keeping us going in what were atrocious weather conditions - fom Dunham to Urmston, driving rain and wind into your face was tough - and I liked the course, even the cross country bit in Dunham which finally did for my trainers. Some mile markers were missing (presumed blown down) which did play havoc a bit with my gel intake, but fine. But the baggage was a disgrace. I stood around outside for 20 minutes shivering with 100s of others, NO-ONE took any responsibility, the army cadets and race organisers were nowhere to be seen, and it ended up as a free-for-all: I went in the back of the tent, found where my bag roughly should have been, but there was no chance, bags 4 deep, hundreds, in a huge pile. Thank goodness my girlfriend was there to take me home, didn't get my bag in the end and wouldn't have fancied getting home myself in soaked-through clothes. It was dangerous. I sincerely hope an apology is forthcoming, and they take note. Can't see me getting my bag back. But I did perversely enjoy the race - unreal conditions considering the 2 sunny days either side! Well done to all.

In short: This was my 3rd time, and I really enjoyed it. The only gripe as always was the start - a bit chaotic and takes ages to cross the start line if you're not there at the crack of dawn. Nice course, good uplifting crowds, well-organised
