In short: My first half marathon in my hometown!
In full: This was my first half marathon and the atmosphere was fantastic. I had high hopes after my training went so well but unfortunately my time wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped for.

The one niggle I have is that there weren't enough toilets on the course. At the 8.5 mile toilet stop the three portaloos just weren't enough; I had to queue for almost 10 minutes, then after that I just couldn't get started running properly again so that's why I didn't get my target time. So it would be nice if there were a few more loos around the route.

Loved the finish in the stadium, made a great end to the race, but as others have said it would have been nice if you got given water as soon as you finished rather than walking for a while to get it.

Might have to go back next year to beat my time. For a first time race it was great and the amount of support along with all the bands was fantastic. Also a special thank you shout out to the little kids on Tilehurst Road who had big bottles of water and showered you when you waved at them - that was a nice touch on such a hot day. (If you get sunburned when running I think it probably means it's too hot to be running a half marathon!!)

So sad to hear about the runner who died at the end - thoughts with all his family and friends.

In short: Good flat course, some small improvements could be made...
In full: Nice and flat if you don't like hills and a good medal at the end.
A couple of niggles - had to stop and wait for water at the station just before the 5K mark - maybe a couple more people helping at the station would solve this. Also apart from water (and the medal obviously) you don't get anything at the end - all the other races I've done you usually get a small choccy bar or a banana just to help your energy levels.
Well marshalled though, just a shame I was having a bad running day and was way off my personal best!

In short: A well organised race!
In full: Very well organised - there were plenty of marshalls who were all really friendly and cheered when you really needed it! Quite a nice course - mainly quiet lanes. The first 5K has a few up and down bits but generally not too bad. It's a shame about the huge downpour at the end, loved hearing my name as I ran down the home striagth - it gave me that extra boost!

The only tiny thing which would be nice would be to have a year somewhere on the medal or ribbon. Everything else was fab!

In short: A great run, my favourite so far!
In full: Everything was well organised, there were plenty of marshalls on the route. A bit surprised it says flat on the description as there's a few hills, especially for the first 2k and the last 2k. Good atmosphere, would definitely do this run again.

In short: Excellent organisation, bit of a tough hill!
In full: Did the 6 miles, my first event in Hook. The organisation was brilliant, lots of marshalls and everything ran on time. Plenty of water stops which was good. Also a nice medal at the end!

The course, I found to be tough, think i was having a bad day, really struggled with the first three miles, the hill you do twice didn't agree with me! Not as scenic around the industrial state but went through a nice shady wooded road.

Also loved the fact that my name was announced as I ran down the last 100m - definitely pushed me to run that extra bit faster!

In short: My first race, shame about the wind!
In full: This was my first race and the course is quite good, there are a couple of challenging hills!
Would be better if the traffic could have been stopped on some more of the roads.
