In short: Great race. First ultra for me but the navigation rather than the distance was the hard part! Well organised and very helpful competitors made it a tremendous day. In full: Make sure you can read a map! Really enjoyed the day, and the weather certainly helped. Terrain was varied but always manageable. 5 checkpoints along the way were all well-staffed and resourced - made it easier than carrying lots of liquid. Date of review: September 12, 2010

In short: Did anyone find my car keys? In full: Brilliant race. Dismiss all thoughts of a PB. Wear somebody else's kit. Course was tough but enough breathing space between challenging sections to make it manageable. X Zone at 8 miles was a real slog and I imagine tougher for anyone at the back after the downpours and churning of 1100 pairs of feet. Stewards and other competitors were helpful and made the event real fun. One favour: add mile markers next time please. Date of review: November 22, 2009

In short: Excellent org and marshalling. Challenging course. A great race. In full: Great weather, superb marshalling and a PB made this a good race for me. Hills aplenty but none too onerous (except one v steep descent at 15ish miles). A lovely finish up through the park gates and drive compensated for the uphill last mile - although the downhill first mile should have forewarned me about this! I'd recommend this race. In short: Mildly undulating???? I'll check a dictionary I think. In full: I arrived late and held the start up - sorry to all I inconvenienced! This meant no warm up or preparation time and I then struggled most of the way round. It is a nice course but the coastal scenery part is much preferable to the housing estates. Not a PB race but an enjoyable one nevertheless. Good reception/facilities at the finish, but I'm glad I didn't have another 13m to go like the marathon runners. Next year...maybe. In short: Excellent race. Well organised and very welcoming. In full: Six laps of HAckney Marshes looked a bit offputting but I'm glad I did this race. Mixed terrain, all flat, and a good mix of shade and open space. Incredibly friendly stewarding and a warm up/stretch from a Tai Chi World Champion. I'll be back next year. In short: Brilliant race. Thanks very much. In full: Queues for stiles were a bit frustrating but the rest of the race more than compensated. The village fete was great for the rest of the family also. Date of review: June 4, 2007

In short: Very enjoyable. Wet all the way round - but it was March. Hills were encountered mostly in the first eight miles, so this left a nice decline to the finish. Date of review: March 6, 2007

In short: Makes a great change from road races - weather just right for a good mix of mud and sunshine. Course was challenging but very varied - climbs, descents, steps and lots of dogs being walked. Date of review: February 5, 2007
