In short: Very good but a few tweaks needed In full: The run itself was great. Great scenery. The route was great and everything well organized. They called out over the tannoy to let people know when to put their baggage away. The only criticism I have was the placing of slower runners in front pens. By the 1st Km there were pepoeople walking. There were obvious slow runners at the front and because of the slow running and walking, it became very congested and slowed faster runners down. This needs to be sorted really as it was very off putting. Many were obviously novices as their etiquette was very bad. Walking should be done to the side, not all over the road. This spoiled the event for me a little.
In short: A well organised enjoyable event! In full: Last year was the first time I did this run and was so happy, I returned again this year! The marshalls are friendly, the organisation is great and all in all it is a very enjoyable run. The only thing I have that is negative to say, is the initial registration is a bit bedlham. Woul you into the school hall to register or get your number but there are people standing along the corridor and many in the hall getting changed. This makes is too manic at the start of the day. Other than that, Very happy and would be returning next year. Thank you to everyone that helped! Date of review: February 14, 2016
In short: Nice race but a killer at 6 miles In full: I thoroughly enjoyed this race. The organizers and marshals were all great an friendly. Everything ran smoothly (no punn) and I would do it again. Only point I would say is that the finish is a fair walk from the start. You run 10 miles including a killer hill and other hills and then after you finish, you have a mile walk to the car... Uphill! In short: Quaint, flat, brilliant In full: A flat and scenic race that was well worth doing. The organisation was very good and all in all it was well worth doing. The medal was a it basic for a half mara but to be fair, it was a cheap entry. The organiser was talking at the start but could do with a megaphone as we couldn't hear a word he was saying. But the course goes through lovely scenery, great marshals and was well organised. I will definitely o this again. P.S. The website states no headphones so please do NOT attempt to wear them! In short: Friendly race for all In full: This is the 2nd time I have done this race though this time the course was changed but still very good. The marshals were friendly, support was nice from the locals and the course is pretty good. It is undulating and starts on a hill but well worth doing. Only one moan... Beetroot juice, really? yuk hahaha, but there was plenty of water for everyone. Thank you to everyone involved! Date of review: February 1, 2015
In short: Charming race thats very friendly In full: The only thing I would say is that the sinage to the field for parking and to the race HQ wasnt very good. BUT.... the marshals were great, organisers very friendly and the day was well worth the run. Very hot but on the whole, a charming race that is great for beginners and elite aalike! In short: Porential for a very nice marathon, comments need to be listened to In full: Many people have varying views on this race but without a doubt, the biggest problem was the weather. This is not the organizers fault so shouldnt be blaming them for that BUT as bad weather was forcast, they should have had certain things prepared. Luckily, for a bit, we could shelter in the stadium but when we were all ushered outside, it took a while to notice someone walking around handing out ponchos which would have been handy to get on arrival. The route on a clear day would be beautiful but the pathways are rather narrow so passing and being passed can be a problem. The finish line was quite depressing as it was 2 timing strips on the floor, nothing else so I wasn't sure if that was the actual finish so a sign would be nice there. SPACE BLANKET? REALLY poor there. Even on a nice day, after a marathon, the body temperature drops and we need a space blanket, There should be one available at the end of a marathon. Was informed that towards the end of the route, the loos were located far from the route as they were "Placed on the wrong area" when she complained she was told "Well it isn't THAT far!" and that was at around th 20 mile mark! The locals are amazing. Even in the Biblical weather, they turned out and cheered us on and it really lifted us all! Big well done to the runners and a massive thank you to the people that came out to cheer us on!! All in all though, It is worth doing.
In short: Absolutely brilliant!! In full: Amazing Race and a must for anyone afterr a PB! The support from the locals was great and where there wasn't support, there was amazing scenery! No Mp3 players were allowed but it turned out that it isnt needed! The scenery and friendlyness of the runners is more than enough to take your mind off of the distance! The only thing I would suggest is making the road to the finish line, coned off for the runners at the back. As I walked along, I noticed other runners with their supporters walking along the road and getting in the way of the people trying to finish the race which was unfortunate. Definately worth getting there early to get a parking space and loos without queues. but all in all, Brilliant race! Date of review: April 1, 2012
In short: PB ppotential, fast course, friendly, loved it! In full: I did this run barefoot and managed a P. I was surprised as early on in the race as there are many runners on narrow roads, there gets a bit of congestion but it soon thins out. But his was a fantastic run. Well done to all involved!! In short: Challenging but wonderful In full: I was made aware that this was quite challenging and it was! Especially with 1 particular hill! This is definately a route to do when ifn training for a full mara. The route is definately hilly and difficult but well worth doing. The organisation is spot on, the marshalls, pacers, vooulenteers and everyone involved in making this race were absolutely fantastic! Thank you all so much! Date of review: February 26, 2012
