In short: Enjoyed that In full: Nearly didn't bother turning up - weather looked poor. People kept warning me about the hills. Its November. I'm glad I did. Nice views, quality T shirt. Got a bit cramped in places with the traffic but it wasn't too bad. I could have used a bottle of the free lucozade at the end at about mile 7 but the jelly babies at mile 10 helped. Managed a PB so I didn't think it was that hilly. Be back next year :-) Date of review: November 25, 2013
In short: Nice Midweek series to keep the wheels spinning In full: I don't understand what the criticism below is based on. I entered the series of 4 for £27 - £6.75 per race doesn’t seem too bad value to me. The Mansfield 5k Classic was £7 so that seems the going rate for a 5k. Yes, it's not free like Parkrun but it's also not sponsored by some major companies. Sometimes you have to put your hand in your pocket. Always seemed organised - not many events that you can get to wait for you as you hurtle into the car park with minutes to spare. I don't need another "goody-bag" with fliers and random tat in it. I got a nice technical T Shirt for completing the series last night. I've got far worse from a certain major Half Marathon.
It's a midweek 5k - not the London marathon. sure, there were some teething problems with the natives at the first 2 races - but these got sorted out with the relocation.
In summary for me;
-Friendly crowd - Approachable - Nice prizes (wine). - Well organised. - Good value. - Technical T Shirt fits.
