In short: Excellent well-organised and lots of supporters. In full: Fairly hilly route through villages on minor roads. Organisation was excellent, marshals very encouraging, and there were lots of cheering supporters. Plenty of drinks stations and sponges, I think there was even an extra water station added due to the heat. Halstead Road Runners know how to put on a marathon! Date of review: May 10, 2016
In short: Excellent ultramarathon In full: Well-organised, friendly race through countryside and villages. Excellent checkpoints with all the food you could want, manned by enthusiastic volunteers. Scenic challenging route with a flat last 5 miles. My first and very memorable 'ultra'. Date of review: August 22, 2014
In short: Well organised challenging rural race In full: The club organising this know what they're doing. The route is varied, well marshalled, with plenty of water stations manned by enthusiastic volunteers. There were plenty of half-marathon runners that started their single lap at 11am passing me (9am start for 2 laps) towards the end, giving words of encouragement. A real feeling of camaradery to the race.
In short: Excellent. In full: Well organised event with plenty of support. Convenient car parking, adequate facilities at the leisure centre. Numerous drinks stations, excellently marshalled course, and the best goody bag I've received. I thought the only real drawback was some tough inclines on the course.
In short: Well organised by GYRR, support from spectators, marshals and passers-by. In full: Well organised event, great support and encouragement from spectators and the many volunteers. Thanks to all the marshals giving up their day to stand in unpleasant conditions. Well done to all those involved! Date of review: October 22, 2012
