In short: A brilliant race which was perfectly organised In full: Alan Rothwell the organiser of this race deserves massive plaudits, he was well in touch with people before the race and every point from parking to travel to pacing was covered. The route is great coving parks, beach fronts, tunnels, city centres and historical areas like penny lane and the old dock area. best of all it finishes with a down hill section into a crowd lined city centre stretch, perfect for dragging you across the line. drink stations were perfectly placed and the marshalls were fantasic all the way round. Collecting baags after the race was so seemless that within 10 mins from finishing I was in my car and on my way home, on top of which I had my result and placing texted to me before I got home (a 1 hr drive). Seamless and flawless, very impressive Date of review: October 15, 2012

In short: the weather was a big factor In full: lots have been said so it is clear what the problems were, I think if the weather had been better a lot of the issues would not have been so prominant. The crowds were amazing and people willing me on in the last two miles after they had stood in the cold for 2-3 hrs was unbelievable. the dunham massey section would have been nice if it wasnt knee deep in water but then I am a trail/fell runner at heart, that said I got really cold after that section and could feel my arms by about mile 18. I know it has been said but this is unforgivable, the baggage collection was unreal, I got lucky and found my bag after about 30mins some stuff had gone out of the bag but I think it must have just fallen out rather than been stolen because my car keys and phone were still in there thank god. I think the organisers owe everyone an email with an explaination and an apology. Date of review: April 30, 2012

In short: a beautiful run but with some niggles In full: I thought both the route and the views were amazing. A nicely undulating course with one slightly larger hill but nothing that made you wish you hadn't started. There was a good mix of club runners and ordinary folk. Although the race was remote there was a smattering of well wishers all round the course. The goody bag at the end was skimpier than a newcastle nighty but as all the proceeds go to charity that is fine. The one major issue was that the road where the start and finish was located was not closed and at some point there were people trying to sprint finish whilst dodging two way traffic. One motorist even drove into the finishing area and parked on the finishing line. I thought it was both dangerous and disrespectful to the runners who have all paid £20 essentially to local charities. I am sure that one a year for 4 hrs people could cope with one road being closed. The views definitely make this race though. Date of review: March 31, 2012
