In short: Good, could've been great In full: The Course: From Holyrood down Portobello beach, back round Arthurs Seat before heading around central Edinburgh. It's a far superior route to the EMF as it actually feels like a city run. There are a few gradual hills but three big downhills in the second half which are very welcome.
The Organisation: Everything was running smoothly, including excellent traffic management at each point, but it was complete chaos after the finish. Waiting well over an hour to pick up baggage as the organisers weren't prepared for the Scottish weather. It wasn't fun being battered by wind and rain, slowly seizing up. No bags on offer with the goodies so everyone was juggling at the same time. The organisers have been very receptive to the criticism on the facebook page, so hopeful they'll rework things for 2014.
Actually, the corrals at the start were all over the shop too...I was in the 2nd from the front and passing people who were already walking after less than 1km. What the hell were they doing there?!
The volunteers were terrific, and the public were out in force despite the horrible conditions. That was fantastic and helped loads. However, the advertised bands-every-mile were almost non-existent from Mile 8.
In spite of the negative comments, I loved this course, the medal's the best I've ever had, the support on course was excellent and the post-race supplies were plentiful and gratefully received. I reckon I'll probably go again next year. Date of review: April 15, 2013

In short: Nice race through a fairly flat route, great to finish at Murrayfield Stadium. That's special. Date of review: April 2, 2012
