In short: Freezing but fast race
In full: Nice open flat area which meant fast time, but no buffering from wind so was bitter cold throughout.
Not many marshals needed due to the layout but ones there were friendly and race was very well organised. Was a shame there weren't any gliders or planes to watch so scenery was dull. Good medal and managed a new PB despite running into freezing wind!

In short: Beautiful scenery, friendly marshalls, lovely race!
In full: Just back from this event (my first ever 10 mile race and the furthest I've ran so far) at it was so nice it has convinced me I'm ready for my first half marathon! The course was mainly country roads with beautiful scenery throughout, and mostly rolling hills but nothing too strenuous. It seemed very well organised with nice clean facilities at the race HQ, and friendly marshalls throughout - always a plus! :o)

In short: Nice flat, scenic, good value race but a bit too repetitive
In full: Nice and flat race throughout and a decent medal, t-shirt and bag at the end, but a few sharp turns on the course cost valuable seconds (most of them on muddy turns so didn't want to risk slipping over!) and the 4 laps round the field plus extra lap round the running track at the end didn't make for a very enjoyable race - there's something harsh about running through the finish line then having to run another lap to the end... it's psychologically evil!!

Overall the race wasn't too bad and measured about 10.13km so they've sorted the distance problems of previous years, but not sure about doing it again next year - the laps are too mentally punishing!

In short: Challenging but scenery makes it worth it
In full: A challenging race with 5k downhill followed by 5k uphill and an especially tough final 3k, but the race is very well organised and the beautiful scenic countryside makes it worthwhile.
Huge thanks to the marshals for giving up their time up to help out and to all the local residents shouting encouragement - I'll be back next year!
