In short: Very well organised friendly event In full: A very well organised event with the best and most enthusiastic marshalls and volunteers. The course comprises of multiple laps around the Gravesend Cyclopark. This would have been really tough if it wasn't for the support of the volunteers and the friendliness of the other runners. Great medal and goodie bag with a lot of free photos well worth the entry fee. Date of review: September 22, 2016
In short: Late start on a very hot day In full: A very hot day combined with a 13:00 start time made this a very tough race. I didn't like the plastic cups at the water stations. In the conditions bottled water would have been much better. A lot of runners were suffering in the last few miles. The St Johns Ambulance were kept very busy. i hope everyone was ok. Nice medal. Needed more than a small bottle of water and a mars bar at the finish. Credit to the Army Cadets and Scouts who marshalled the race. Date of review: September 29, 2014
In short: Great run on a cold morning In full: This was my 2nd GSR and I have found them both to be very well organised. I travelled from Gosport on the ferry and walked to the start. I would recommend this route to miss the traffic in Portsmouth and as a great way to warm up before the start. There is good support all around the course. It is a great race for beginners. In short: My first race generally a good experience In full: This was my first race. I found a great atmosphere with lots of support along the route. The course was congested in places and it was difficult to maintain my pace when overtaking or being overtaken. It reminded me of driving in london traffic. Disappointed that the t shirt doesn't fit. I really enjoyed the race and i have entered for next year.
