In short: A cold race with a warm atmosphere In full: Another great race organised by Wilmslow RC. Tough, cold, windy conditions but a good atmosphere amongst the runners and terrific marshals. While some may complain about the price, given the closed roads, the excellent organisation and nice if unusual shirt, it is far better value than anything put on by BUPA. Enjoyable route and look forward to doing it again when I am fully fit. Date of review: March 25, 2013

In short: Terrific holiday race - more challenging than it appears! In full: This was a very well organised, first-time, 10k trail race, with the added twist of 'no watches' and prizes for those whose predictions were closest to actual results. While most of the route was on flat walk/bridle paths or canal towpaths, the short 'hill' section added some challenge as did the narrow and tricky towpath surface. Friendly marshals and volunteers and good humour amongst the 200 participants made for a great atmosphere. I echo the earlier comment that not only should this be an annual event, but a midsummer evening event would also be welcome. Date of review: January 2, 2013

In short: A great race with a challenging route and terrific organisation In full: Got to be one of the top races of the year. While the short, scenic rural section is sandwiched between two longer sections of housing estates, you do get to start and finish in 'world-famous Woodbank Stadium'. Great marshals and a terrific commentator in Tony Audenshaw and the most unique start to any race I've seen - a firework lit at the end of a lap with the Olympic torch to the Chariots of Fire theme. Great value and atmosphere. Not a PB for me, but my best time on this route. Date of review: December 10, 2012

In short: A great course, well-organised and enough undulation to make it challenging. In full: Starting and finishing in scenic Tatton Park and with a varied undulating route, this was an enjoyable race. Quite cold waiting around for the start, but weather was perfect for running once underway. Marshals were great, parking easy and the technical shirt and medal were a nice bonus. In short: Well-organised, scenic and interesting route and perfect weather for racing. In full: This is a very well-organised marathon - convenient parking, great bag storage, good pre-race information, excellent and friendly marshaling and well-spaced hydration stations. The start through the historic city of Chester is inspiring and the rural sections generally flat but scenic. The race deserves its growing popularity. The long-sleeve technical shirt is a nice bonus. Date of review: October 9, 2012

In short: Excellent race, well-organised, interesting route & great value. In full: Malcolm Fowler and the Wilmslow Running Club crew did a fabulous job at organising this race: a bargain price, parking on-site, great route, excellent marshals, free photos, a bottle of beer, a flapjack and no rain! And a worthy organisation, The David Lewis Centre is £2,000 better off. I'll be back next year. Date of review: July 31, 2012

In short: A challenging race, well organised by the enthusiastic Roberttown Road Runners. In full: This half marathon is very well organised, from the marshaled car parking to a welcoming race centre and competent, cheerful race marshaling. The course is hilly (285m rise)with very few flat sections. Luckily, the weather cooperated after a week of sub-zero temps and constant forecasts of snow or sleet. Date of review: February 13, 2012
