In short: Glorious river and estuary scenery. In full: A super race despite the biting wind. Fast course with definite PB potential. Hanging around for the t-shirt was grim in the cold as the queues for baggage and shirts were not made clear. Date of review: May 17, 2012

2012 Cheshire Oaks Chester Half Marathon - Race Full

In short: Did not like the racecourse start or hills at start and finish. In full: If you're going to include a couple of hills in a run the worst places for them are at the start and the finish, and if you are unable to transport the baggage to the finishing point the start and finish of the race need to be much closer together. A start in the city centre and a lap of the city 'sights', rather than a run across some plastic webbing, fibre matting, and a sharp uphill, would be so much more enjoyable. That hill at the end, especially having just passed a poor guy receiving emegency treatment by the side of the road, was very, very tough. Date of review: May 15, 2012
