In short: A great day for your headphones to break In full: I've always been a head down, ears full kind of runner. It must have been fate that made my headphones decide that the green holding pen was the place to stop working!
The local support for the race was amazing. There were two spots where spectators either weren't allowed or simply didn't occupy but they more than made up for it on the rest of the course. One area seemed to require armed police which was just a little off-putting but we all needed the laugh as we settled into that second mile. The 'Bands on the run' were an excellent addition, hearing a brass band version of YMCA certainly made my day, and the charity areas were all packed out.
As someone who lives in a world of hills, the flat course was a revelation. I finished wondering if I'd actually run, at least I would have if better sock choice had left my feet in better condition, and surpassed my own expectation in terms of my time. best of all, I got to overtake the legend that is Linvoy Primus.
