In short: A great course slightly let down by organisation. In full: First of all let's talk about the weather. The organisers were VERY unlucky to say the least in terms of the horrendous weather that made it tip it down for a good 4 hours prior to the race. A friend of mine ran the course 3 days prior and it was pretty much bone dry. This is clearly something outside of the organisers control.
What annoyed me somewhat about this race is that it is advertised/promoted as a kind of family friendly 10k/4k. That in itself is fine, but due to the horrendous conditions there should of been the following:
1) A delayed start by 20minutes to allow people to park properly and prepare. 2) A good clear and precise warning that the course has become very tough overnight and in some places dangerous. 3) CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS AS TO WHERE THE START is. I stupidly assumed it would be under the 'START' banner. 4) More marshalls as a couple of people got lost.
All this aside, the amount raised is fantastic and goes to unbelievable cause. Otherwise I would of been peed off at this race.
Noone can do much about the rain. But they can manage it better. Date of review: November 6, 2012
In short: Absolute Quality In full: I was a G3 virgin after pulling out the last two years much to the pi$$ take of work colleagues. Finally did it this year, and I have to say I'll be back next year for definate. I stupidly didn't enter all three so I'm hoping to find a drop out. Date of review: January 14, 2008
In short: Surperb In full: Can I just say congrats to the organisers. My first time running this year, and although a tough race, definately one worth doing for the scenary, let alone the training. Roll on next year! Date of review: June 4, 2007
In short: Yet again - Superb In full: Just love this race, not sure why with the hideous mud, there is just something about it that makes it one of my fave races of the year. Congrats to the organisers again! Date of review: December 4, 2006
