In short: Energy sapping mud and one very tough hill (not the only hill though)! In full: Very well organised tough course, which would be scenic if it weren't for the mist.
Marshalls were superb. A big thumbs up to the local population who allowed runners to park on their land (race was in danger of being called off because the field which usually acts as a car park was partially flooded).
I struggled to stay on my feet on certain parts of the course, even though I was wearing 'good' trail shoes!!
Definitely worth getting out of bed for. It had nothing to do with the cakes on offer - honest. Date of review: January 12, 2014
In short: Lung busting trail race. In full: Don't think about your time for this race, leave your watch at home. Just enjoy the race and admire the scenery if you can! Please don't attempt this race wearing road shoes (I couldn't believe how many people were not wearing trail shoes), it was hard enough trying to stay upright in trail shoes. The runners who chose to wear road shoes were slipping and sliding all over the place. The route was quite muddy last year, so you can imagine what it was like this year! A well oganised and friendly race. Great idea having your name on your race No. (Adds that personal touch - especially when the marshalls voice their encouragement to you). The marshalls were superb and there were ample water/sweet stations througout the route. Looking forward to hurting again next year. Date of review: November 26, 2012
In short: Nice course, run for deserving charity with very good spot prizes. In full: Well done Mike Buss - great run for beginners and the more serious runners alike. 99.9% traffic free, flat course which takes you around a nice wooded area . Such a shame that so many 'fair weather' runners failed to turn up, just because of rain, sleet & snow! (Get a grip people). Looking forward to looking at the photo's on-line later. Very impressed with the spot prizes for a small event such as this. Date of review: November 4, 2012
