In short: Beautiful run, great goodies! In full: The organization of this event was fab; the goody bag was the best I've ever had and the never ending supply of freebies were greatly received. I loved the sheltered bar area where family could wait for the finishers, and the catering was very good. The race itself was hot as hell, which made it pretty tricky up those steep sections of which there were a few. It was a bit of shame that there weren't bottles of water at the halfway mark, as it forced me to slow considerably in the second half to avoid the dreaded heatstroke. Running with a cup of tepid water didn't really help! The route was beautiful, incredibly scenic and fairly challenging. No PB's in the heat, but it was worth it for a glorious day out. In short: Fast and flat, but lacklustre crowds In full: Having run lots of other events this year I was especially excited to run in my home Bristol event. I thought the organization was brilliant; the start was uncrowded and pleasant, no elbowing or jostling. The start opens out onto the large flat of Anchor Road which gave plenty of opportunity to find your pace and get away from the crowds.
Once out onto the Portway the crowds all but disappeared and the support was very minimal. Compared to other races the atmosphere was a bit flat, with not much to distract you around the course.
The course was excellent though, well signed and marshaled, and with great big distance markers which spurred things along a bit.
The finish was well organized, we were funneled along to receive a blanket, water, then a medal (woohoo!), then a goody bag, then a size appropriate t-shirt. The t-shirt and medal were fantastic, excellent quality, and far better than some of the other high profile races offer. The goody bag was a small chocolate bar and a hydration supplement, nothing special there.
All in all, a good easy course for all runners with great PB potential, but the crowds could definitely do with a kick up the bum to be a bit more enthusiastic. There was one particularly lovely marshall stood by the foot of the flyover who was really encouraging, so good on her! Date of review: May 23, 2012

In short: Great organisation but disappointing memento! In full: The organisation of the Horror this year was brilliant. The marshalls were well-organised and super friendly and encouraging, even when I felt like my legs were going to fall off.
After last years free pint and t-shirt I was a bit disappointed to receive only a rather naff drawstring bag at the end. Not to worry though, a good day and many cakes were had by all!
Definitely one to try again next year :) Date of review: April 25, 2012

In short: Fabulous atmosphere pulls you through the tough bits! In full: The Bath Half was very well organized. Yes, it was quite busy, but if you turned up to your starting pen in good time you could easily secure a good starting position. I ran for the pure enjoyment, and was thrilled by the atmosphere - all along the route people lined the streets cheering us all on. The whole day felt really special and although I didn't do a particularly fast time (2:10), I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The thrill of being lapped by the leading runners was fab, and I'd definitely run this one again! Organisation was exceptional, and the goody bag was marvellous. All in all, a great race!
