In full: If you're looking for a challenging but atmospheric London race without the rigours of training for the VLM, then be sure to sign up for The Ealing 2013.
I'm so pleased that I was part of this inaugural event yet it was far from feeling like one with the usual teething issues - other than the delayed start which was beyond the organiser's control, the attention to detail and professionalism of the race from the pre-race packs to the quality of the portaloos to the vociferous marshals was nothing short of outstanding.
The course itself, although quick, was challenging at times. what made it quick though was the plethora of gathering local support at crucial vantage points which made it worthwhile. Like me, if you enjoy engaging with the supporters to keep up the motivation and pace, the Ealing community will reciprocate with similar enthusiam - they want to see the runners enjoying themselves on thier home patch!!
The organisers made good use of what scenery Ealing could offer and I, for one, wasn't disappointed in that respect. The only thing which disappointed me was the drop-out rate on the day. Boy did you guys miss out on what is surely going to be a fast sell-out next year. can the organisers top thier first event? I bet they're already on the case...One of the best HMs for overall appeal. Date of review: October 1, 2012
