In short: Well Organised Challenging Half
In full: Tough race with one stand-out hill about 3-4 miles in.

Very well organised with great marshals and plenty of water stations.

As an off-road race it's a good test but not really aimed at smashing your PB.

In short: A Great Run for the Bank Holiday
In full: A brilliant run (10k on the Monday) across a challenging course. A great atmosphere on arrival and really well organised.

An absolute bargain too! Will certainly be back next year if possible.

In short: A good 10k with definite scope for PB
In full: Not sure if all these reviews are for the same race as the 2011 was absolutely flat with 0 hills.

A decent course, although a little narrow in parts early on so PB hunters should make sure they're out in front.

Well worth the entry fee, and nice to have a race on a Saturday morning.

(NB - If I remember correctly the course was not closed, so may bump into the occassional dog walker).

In short: A great XC Half
In full: Brilliant views, very challenging route - hills were one thing but the stairs really added to it.

A couple of sketchy moments where I was unsure of the route due to lack of marshalls. Mile markers are only at the water stations (4, 8 and 11.5 miles), which indicates you're unlikely to be running a PB.

Overall, a very worthwhile race, go for the challenge not the time.

In short: Hilly and Hot
In full: Interesting start, given that cars were rolling through the start line until a group of people just stepped into the road to start the race.

Ridiculous start time of 11am, there are ferries from 7am allowing people to get to IOW early enough. For a mid-summer Half to start at 11 is crazy.

Tough course, good challenge, PB's are unlikely for most. I did the Needles XC half earlier this year in similar conditions and in fact ran mildly quicker, so that should put the course in perspective.

Given the entry fee I wouldn't expect road closures but maybe worth seeking some investment next year to reduce time spent, often alone, on busy roads.
