In short: Tough, but once in lifetime course
In full: Think I chose the wrong race for my first foray away from road races into cross country. So my comments won't be the best for the Race Director to glean feedback from. I found it v tough...those hills and that mud! However delighted I completed it, maybe once I've psychologically recovered (I may dream of scrabbling over boulders tonight!)I may be tempted back onto a flatter less muddy cross country. Marshalls were v supportive. Delighted you gave us chance to run an olympic course.

In short: Well marshalled marathon
In full: Thoroughly enjoyed. Got a pb (knocked 47 mins off my 2011 London marathon time-altho I had had a mare there! hence why I opted for a quieter one this time!)Extremely well marshalled. Much prefer to get bottle of water rather than cups-I got more down my front than in my mouth. Fair amount of support en route. Lots of differing scenery-loved Watermead, not sure about bemused shoppers. More slight undulations than I'd bargained for...and altho I'd walked up New Walk (final slightly uphill finishing mile) the day before and decided it was nothing to be worried about....it is tiring at end of 26 miles! Stayed whole weekend-people of Leicester were friendly. Stayed at Holiday Inn: clean, cheap & pool! If I attempt any further marathons...I'd def do this one again.

In short: Enjoyable half marathon
In full: This is my 5th half, but first time at Ipswich. Course undulating (my knee struggling on downhills at mo) and little twisty. Encouraging support from spectators and marshalls en route. Start was long way back up Sidegate Lane: once I'd parked, walked all way to Sports Centre to pick up number and use toilet, had to run (!) back to start line. Think that needs to be highlighted in emails. You need to get there early! Plus couldn't see any "time pens" at start, nor work out when I'd passed start line. Was little stressed at beginning....hate to start in anxious state! But once settled into race, had good water stations (great to have bottles rather than cups) and nice atmosphere at finish. Loved meeting Olympic Torchbearers. My kids also did the fun run and loved that (esp getting a medal and t-shirt. Thanks)

In short: Good marshalling, great start facilities.
In full: Overall the race was good. I had no problem with marshalls - plenty of them. I also didn't encounter many traffic problems - yes, traffic was trying to go both ways down narrow country lanes, but I've had that at other half marathons. I was frustrated that there was no (obvious) contact email/telephone on website - so couldn't ask questions in advance of anyone. Also slightly frustrated that "same-day results" didn't mean chip times going on the website on the same day. 24 hours after now and still no sign of chip times on website. I however THINK I ran a pb, so delighted - despite a few hills. Plenty of supporters in town- shame they didn't cheer/applaud more. Facilities at end/start are excellent at the stadium- plenty of toilets etc. Bit more ra-ra-ra before the start would have been motivating - bit low key. But I'm sure it's a race I'll do it again.
