In short: Flat, fast, friendly- a feel-good event In full: This was my first ever marathon and I'm so glad I did it in Edinburgh. Organisation all very good. Great support on way round. Baggage etc pretty slick. Only real gripe would be yucky portaloos on the course - not for the fainthearted! Date of review: May 26, 2014
In short: my favourite 10k ! In full: Third time running this race and it's now a firm fixture in my calendar. I was recovering from injury this year but taped myself and popped a couple of painkillers rather than miss it. Change to route this year meant we started at same place/time as half marathon. Things a bit handknitted at this point but porridge & hot drinks provided to keep spirits up. Glad to see chip mat at start rather than mass start as previously. Don't do this race for the goody bag - there isn't one! Do it for the feel good fundraising and glorious setting.
In short: Mostly flat, a fast course with a friendly atmosphere. Worth the trip! In full: First time doing this race. Like a few others, I was filling in time while my husband did the marathon. Impressed by organisation and the number of (clean!with paper and handwash!) portaloos at the start area. NB - the start is a long walk from the finish ( we had booked accomodation close by with finish in mind)and there is no public transport to speak of at this time on a Sunday - had to pay for a taxi to get me there. Shuttle bus from finish are TO the start would have been a nice touch.Managed to aggravate an injury so not quite a PB but a decent goody bag, great weather and Inverness City Centre (around the finish area)is beautiful! In short: A small, friendly, value-for-money 10K - well worth the trip! In full: This was my 9th (ever) 10k and I found it by far the toughest due to a hot sunny morning, some rather challenging hills and quirky countryside features en route. Welcome downhill section for the last couple of kilometres though. Medal, no goody bag but you are given a voucher at registration that entitles you to a bacon roll and a cuppa (or cold drink and filled roll) in the school canteen afterwards. Much appreciated!Fun run for the kids a nice touch too. Would do it again - might give the half marathon a go next year. Never say never again... Date of review: June 20, 2013
In short: Well organised, friendly race - the hills just make it interesting! In full: First time doing this race ( I am fairly new to this running malarky) but really enjoyed it - despite the undulating route. Weather and enthusiastic support along the way helped. Will be back next year to try to improve on my time! Date of review: April 25, 2012
