In short: Lovely scenery, great organisation, and great company In full: This is a new trail race in the Forest of Dean and I have to say that it was very very good. Not flat but certainly not hilly, and very well organised both at the start and finish and also with the drinks stations. No chance of getting lost as it was extremely well marked and marshalled. More on forest tracks and lose gravel than I was expecting and would probably have got away with normal road shoes rather than trail shoes - feet are killing me now! Certainly one for the calendar next year, and with a marathon and a 5k that run alongside it, there is something for everybody. Certainly would recommend it, and hopefully will be back next year. Well done to the organisers and their supporters. Date of review: May 15, 2011

The organisation was excellent, there was brilliant support from the marshalls, and excellent crowd support around the start and finish areas. I would certainly recommend it, and will definitely be back! Date of review: April 14, 2010

In short: Superb race yet again! In full: Despite the route change due to ice and snow, the race was once again lots of fun and well organised. At one point I thought we were heading off up the Roaches in protest at the start, but turned out that we had all gone the wrong way! Didn't spoil the enjoyment thought, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Thanks yet again to Staffs Moorlands AC who never fail to impress. Date of review: December 20, 2009

In short: Not a bad race at all! In full: This one is just down teh road from me but today was the first time I'd done it, having been put off by reports of poor organisation and a boring, twisty course. I actually found it a pretty good race considering it's a city marathon, and the course makes the best of what's available, which wasn't actually that bad. The route wasn't lined with spectators, but there were still more than what I was expecting, but then i only did the one lap and imagine it could have been quite hard work if doing the full. Organisation was great, all the marshalls and race officials were extremely helpful. You need to do a race to form your own opinion and sometimes take a chance - well done Wolverhampton is all I can say!! Date of review: September 6, 2009

In short: Lovely little race In full: First time at Chasewater and I wasn't disappointed. Organisation was fantastic, good course and although it's generally flat, it is on tracks and trails which gets a little bumpy underfoot. Absolutely loved it, was well supported with spectators and even the dog walkers gave runners encouragement. Well done Chase Harriers - will certainly recommend this race to those at our club! In short: Good organised race and really enjoyed it In full: First couple of miles or so are uphill but then plenty of down/undulating stuff to make up lost ground. Not bad scenary either and on such a lovely sunny day, the views from the top were pretty good! Organisation was very good and really friendly marshalls. Just a pity the results took so long as not many people were left for the presentation or spot prize draw, meaaning some peeps lost out. Date of review: April 20, 2009

In short: Fabulous event! In full: I'd heard this one was a tough one, and it certainly lived up to its reputation in the first 5 or 6 miles. After that, it's pretty good running and the views absolutely fantastic particularly today due to such lovely weather, showing Wales at its best. The organisation was very good and the marshals cheerful and chatty. My only gripe would be it took a while for the presentation and it didn't happen until nearly 6pm - we had a 2 hour drive home after that! Otherwise, well impressed and I will be back! In short: Still a good race, but the start is still terrifying In full: I've done this race 4 times now, and the start is still quite scary - lots of runners on a narrow road, and as in previous years, I saw a couple of poor chaps go down and were trying desperately to protect themselves from being trampled. Don't know why some folks feel the need to push and shove, but guess it's the only way to a pb for some!
Organisation is very good and there is good pb potential. For once, I actually enjoyed the race this year as it normally fills me with dread - I might even go back again next year for more of the same....
Thanks to all the marshalls and the organisers for another good race. Date of review: February 1, 2009

In short: Extremely well organised and certainly recommended. In full: First time at Apedale and thought it was fantastic! The frost made it particularly picturesque this year if a little dodgy underfoot in places. No chance of getting lost as the marshalls were fantastic and there were plenty of arrows pointing folks in the right direction. Quite low key with a small field, but really friendly and would certainly recommend it for a good race just before Christmas. Thanks to everybody involved. Date of review: December 7, 2008

In short: Fabulous! In full: I've done many marathons including big city ones, but this one was the most friendly, relaxed and enjoyable of them all, and had great organisation. The route is a tough one with hills aplenty, but then this is the Lake District. The weather this year couldn't have been better for running, and the views around the course were fantastic. There was more traffic coming into the finishing straight as the half finishers were heading home, but it didn't matter as they all shouted words of encouragement to those finishing the marathon. Thanks to all involved - I will definitely be back! Date of review: September 19, 2008
