In short: Fast enough with some challenging hills In full: This was my final pre-London marathon test and, despite the freezing temperature and falling snow, it was a good morning. The route is mostly on open roads and the local drivers were friendly enough. It takes a bit of willpower to keep going after 15 miles and complete the full 21 mile race. Well organised, friendly marshalls and a medal at the end. What more could you want from a local race? Date of review: March 24, 2013

In short: Very tough course, stunning scenery In full: My first G3 and I underestimated how tough it would be. Cold, muddy and falling snow. Very slippery underfoot so spikes would have made a big difference. The hill up to St Martha's Hill reduced everyone to a slow walk. However, well organised with a great atmosphere and a race I would definitely do again. Date of review: February 9, 2013

In short: My first 5k, very fast course, great atmosphere In full: As one of the event organisers, I will do my best to be impartial in my review! This was my sixth race of 2012, since I took up running in April, and the shortest distance I've completed to date, with 10k being my usual choice. It was great to be able to run in Dunsfold Park, with plenty to keep me interested during the race. It was a lovely atmosphere and it was great to run with a real mix of runners, from the very fast to the very enthusiastic! We are really looking forward to doing this again in 2013 and will take on board any feedback from this first event when organising the second. Date of review: December 3, 2012

In short: Challenging race made tougher by the weather! In full: I had been warned to expect hills but this course was tougher than I had expected. The last second change in start direction was unfortunate and saw me start far too close to the front! Enjoyed this race despite the mud, water and hills. Great atmosphere, well organised and challenging course. Would definitely like to do it again on a dryer day! Date of review: November 4, 2012

In short: Fantastic venue & route for my first half marathon In full: I was really nervous about this race, as it was my first half marathon and I was determined to complete it in under two hours, despite the hills. Denbies is a fantastic venue for Race HQ and I really enjoyed the scenery from the top of the hills. There was plenty of variety on the route and the course was well marshalled. Great race organisation, although a slightly questionable taste in pre-race music (10cc Dreadlock Holiday, really??). Finished in around 1:47 and would love to do this one again. In short: Tough climbs, beautiful views, friendly runners In full: My 3rd 10k race since I started running in April and a real challenge. I had been warned to expect hills and there were plenty! Three significant climbs (up St Martha's Hill twice and Newland's Corner once) along with some smaller, steep hills to contend with. Not convinced by the claimed 10k distance (my GPS said 9.3k). Fairly well organised, nice people running and enough of a challenge to make getting up early on a Saturday morning worth it. Date of review: September 8, 2012

In short: Well organised, friendly runners, flattish course with good scenary In full: This was only my second 10k race, but as it takes place less than a mile from where I live, I was really looking forward to taking part. The recent rain made the course particularly wet and muddy, which added to the fun in my opinion. Running through the private estate at Baynards was a real privilege for a local who has never had the chance to poke around in there before. Pace pens meant a relatively smooth getaway at the start with little need for overtaking once the race was under way. Managed a PB despite the mud! Will definitely do this one again next year. In short: Lovely atmosphere, tricky hills but nice course In full: This was my first 10k race, after taking up running 6 weeks ago. I'm really pleased I did this one and set a new PB, despite 3 or 4 quite nasty hills. It was really well organised with lots of marshalls at every junction, all offering words of encouragement. I hope this becomes an annual event and will definitely be running it again next year if it does. Date of review: June 4, 2012
