In short: Great course, well attended, good atmosphere!
In full: Great atmosphere, a 500 strong field, and a really scenic course make this a great event.
The biggest climbs are all in the first third of the course which helps with pacing. The long downhill into Alfriston (about half way) and the subsequent flat section along the river both allow you to pick your pace up.
PB for me so I'll definitely be making this one a regular from now on!!
Thanks NPS Lions!

In short: Really nice trail run... harder than you might think too!
In full: Lovely atmosphere at this event, which is put on by a team who very obviously care a lot - and know a lot - about running.
The route involves two laps around Bewl Water; mainly undulating trails around the lake shore, with a few country lanes thrown in too. It's relatively flat by trail standards, but there are a few bigger climbs towards the end of each circuit, although these are all on the road sections. Still, they're long enough to hurt on lap 2! The scenery is lovely enough to make the second lap every bit as aesthetically pleasing as the first!
The organisation was first class. Pre-race comms were timely and informative; registration ran like clockwork; feed-stations were well stocked and ably managed by friendly and encouraging marshals; chip timing was integrated into race numbers and spot on; and the medal and t shirt were both the best that I have received from any event, ever.
So, all in all, this is an event that is definitely going on my annual fixture list. A pleasure to take part in. Thanks Hermes Running!

In short: They're not exaggerating about the mud..! Not too difficult a course though.
In full: Lovely trail run! Undulating, but nothing too steep; some nice variety in the trails with a great section through the bracken. Mud everywhere though... and seemed to get worse towards the end! Atmosphere, organisation and marshalling were first class: these people really know how to put trail running events together! Looking forward to doing a few more Lakeland Trails this year.

In short: AWESOME! In a class of its own... can't recommend it highly enough!
In full: This is an absolutely brilliant course! Some great climbs; the most mud i've ever seen; puddles that were knee deep in ice cold water; rushing flood waters; technical rocky / rooty sections; and glorious scenery throughout. On top of that its in February so you're also battling the weather from start to finish - and yesterday's weather was pretty extreme! And to finish it off the atmosphere, organisation and marshalling were superb! Cant recommend this one highly enough!

In short: Lovely atmosphere, really well organised, and a decent enough course.
In full: It really does have a great atmosphere this race, is very well organised with excellent marshalling, and the course is challenging without being OTT. I probably should have checked the route in a bit more detail before I signed up though as I'd say it was about 30% on streets through residential areas which isn't really my idea of scenic. I also wish i'd worn road shoes instead of trail shoes as I think they'd have been better suited overall to the course. All in all a really nice event, run by people who obviously care a lot about what they do, great atmosphere before, during and after, and a decent end of year challenge. Well worth a go.

In short: Great event! Challenging route; stunning scenery; lovely atmosphere...
In full: ETL really do know how to put on first class running events. Everything was perfect - as usual: great route, well marked, loads of marshals, and a seriously chunky silver medal at the end! All three sections were challenging and scenic in equal measure and the downhill finish on the final leg was a great way to end a great event. Cheers to the excellent ETL team again!

In short: GREAT!! Amazing course; great organisation; nice vibe; non-corporate!
In full: Fully deserving of its already excellent reputation! The course is really good: two challenging ascents (659 and Deeply Steep); mainly single-track; stream crossings; lots of roots; lots of mud; a few jumps; and great scenery throughout. Great organisation from start to finish, nice t-shirt, and a refreshing lack of commercialism (although specifying Haribo Jelly Babies at water stations is genius!)... Great, great event!
