In short: A great day out accessible to all.
In full: I've not done a CTS in a couple of years but wanted to do one again as Endurancelife have a habit of picking breathtaking scenery for their locations. This was no let down in the slightest. (Un?)fortunately they also have a reputation of finding incredibly hard terrain and this race didn't disappoint on that front either! That beast at the beginning was arduous the first time and horrible the second on the Ultra! Luckily a good day out for me and paced it well as I don't think I could have handled that horrible weather on the hill if I'd not had a good race up to that point. One small annoyance was that whilst tracking the run it seemed to be a couple of km shorter than expected which meant I lost a couple of places but I guess I should just go on feel in future and all in all it was a great day out!

In short: Friendly atmosphere and nice day out!
In full: I found this race to be a really nice day out. Very casual start and really welcoming for those ethat wanted to start early for a longer time while still having the group start for those of us that wanted the race feel on the day. Finally had a nice day out which made it all the better and great luck that it was pretty solid underfoot. In saying this, however, on that one bit of bog the organisers said to be wary of? Lost my shoe. Great to see the sense of humour from the runner next to me laughing! The hill at mile 10 was nice and steady and so rewarding at the top with a lovely view over the downs. Very friendly atmosphere with everyone nattering away and one even offering me a lift to the train station (thanks again!). The availability of showers and the cooked breakfast just made it that much better.

In short: Mettle toward the medal.
In full: So many things combined to make this a very individual race. I knew it was going to be relatively hard but I had no idea it was going to be this hard.

Never ending hills, gale force winds, pissing rain, knee high mud and waist high puddles if you were unlucky to fall the wrong way combined together to numb your face, legs and all in between.

Varying terrain took your mind off the pain and I must say i felt exultant just to finish this bugger.

Marshals were brilliant. I've never tried a mars bar from a brown puddle until yesterday but by god did it taste good a few miles from the end.

I really enjoyed this race far more than I had expected. A must do for anyone who wants to consider themselves a real runner!

In short: Good race but quite expensive
In full: Was a really enjoyable race this one. Signed up on the day though and they had changed the price- only a couple of quid more but I brought exact change and nearly wasn't allowed to run! Also, the photographers are asking £12 for a digital download?!?

The run itself though was really good and it was great to jump in the pool afterwards!

In short: So much fun!
In full: A great day out. Of particular note was the support crew and marshals being so friendly and a real sense it is a social group afterwards. Only wish I could have made it to the after party. Great race, really fun.
