In short: Fab first time event - well done organisers! In full: I echo all the positive feedback about this event - I was impressed from the moment I signed up, great regular comms from the organisers who always had such a positive attitude towards the participants.
On the day organisation just as impressive - delayed start out of their control but at least they kept us informed. Course much hillier than advertised but I still came out with a pb so I am happy. Marshals fantastically supportive and all pre and post race elements seemed smooth.
Some parts of the course were fairly narrow so it will be interesting to see how this is managed if they increase the participant size in 2013.
Two places for improvement (1) bigger or more visible mile markers (I missed several) (2) cups of water instead of bottles (mostly because I feel guilty throwing away an almost full bottle as I tend to take sips and dont like carrying them with me - plus perhaps a feed station at one of the water stops (was desperate for a jelly baby!)
Overall fantastic and I will be recommending this to everyone for next year Date of review: October 1, 2012

In short: What an experience! In full: Hugely enjoyed this challenging course - a great one to do after getting a few 'normal' half marathons under my belt.
Loved the fancy dress, really added and made the race more about being part of something than just slogging around.
Was really concerned about the no MP3 rule but hardly missed having music - the hilly and variable course proved a good distraction.
Friendly atmosphere and fab organisation as well - race director responded to the unexpected heat wave and the water stops were frequent and well stocked.
And who needs a goody bad full of things that mostly go straight in the bin when you can have fresh fruit, cake, wine, hog roast, a technical t and lovely medal.
Thanks for a great experience Date of review: September 10, 2012

In short: Good first time experience In full: Was concerned about the 1:45 cut off for this as I am not a club runner. Not sure what would have happened if I came in after this time (I finished in 1:35 and there seemed to be plenty of people behind me).
Good course - some hills but nothing off putting. Disconcerted at running on roads that still had traffic on them but this was managed well by the good number of marshalls, who were also friendly and encouraging. Easy route to follow despite being at the back.
Shame no chip time available (although this would be reflected in a more expensive entry price I suppose) and could have done with a small snack at the end, but again perhaps this just reflects the entry price. Date of review: May 20, 2012
